Dearest People of the South Pacific,

Many of you have heard that Witchcraft and Sorcery has stepped down from his position as the Minister of Military Affairs and is, in fact, taking a break from NationStates as a whole. We wish him the best in all his endeavors and hope that he returns to us when he feels the time is right. You may also have heard he named me as his successor.

I would first like to dispel any confusion around my appointment. When W&S appointed me as MoMA, he did so before the Cabinet was able to deliberate, and although I was eventually selected as the successor, Prime Minister Nakari had to recall the statement until I was officially selected. We are looking to prevent situations like this in the future.

That being said, let us look towards that future, for I have hopes that my short term may see a time of revival of the SPSF. I’m sad to say that the majority of the force has become inactive and that we are in desperate need of new, dedicated faces. Counting myself, there are a total of four individuals in the SPSF ranked above a soldier; this shows a clear lack of interest and activity. Some R/D players even argue that military gameplay is on a decline game-wide. I refuse to accept this; as such reviving military gameplay in TSP is the overall mission of my term.

Our first step is recruitment. The lifeblood of any military force is its soldiers, so we are looking for anyone in our fine region with the time and will to join us. We plan on pursuing telegram recruitment to new players and working, both on our own and possibly with Regional Affairs, in order to make the SPSF a more visible part of our community.

On that note, transparency is also key. Starting next week, the SPSF will begin to publish weekly reports on both our GP and regional forums to share what we have been working on - and perhaps to show off a bit too.

Training is also a big step. I have already begun contacting all current trainees to schedule training sessions and get them on their way to being a soldier. We have started writing the next installment the Guide Project - a section for aspiring officers. The force can always use new leaders!

And finally, we are exploring ways to open up smaller leadership positions within the force as a way of involving newer members.

I know that W&S’ resignation and my subsequent appointment may seem sudden to many. I hope, however, that I can dispel any reservations about me and revitalize our beloved SPSF.
