I've always wondered how the hell this place became a station, or how this building became so grand. The bank has been here since The Peony, Mangling Mangsten took her sword against the Taizong empire. You'd think a group of riverboat pirates would stand a chance against Sedunnic-backed empire trained and disciplined?

Certainly it's an uncommon possibility and believing that they could install a Peonic puppet, Hammerstar had sent a support. Its support, in the form of the Templar Bank. Needless to say, the Templar provided enough momentum to pursue its ambitions. Little that they know that the ones that blocked Hammerstarian influence in Huawan is the support of Shao Yan, and the bank, while empathetic, is never one with the state agenda.

As such, with its support, the Templar Bank established itself in the country to grow its coverage in The South Pacific. It certainly wonders whether such actions could be replicated elsewhere, and the banks needed to grow.

"We will be stopping at, Templar Bank, Templar Bank. Do not forget your belongings and be careful upon alighting."

Which where I come in. My this is a truly exceptional station.

Cafe Sonata.

The lobby was empty, except for doctor Kane and his guest. He had the cafe entirely booked for this occasion, with Darach's benefit but the chagrin of Lady Caitlin. With Lady Caitlin, The Peony sat down on her chair near the desk as Caitlin sat down on the bed.

"Upon knowing the true source of the missiles, we are able to send our agents to dispose of it." Said Caitlin, "once then, we can focus on the adenovirus"

"By Allah, how the hell could you stay in such a cluttered room?" Said The Peony as she rubbed her finger on top of Caitlin's desk

"I do not have the luxury of being a head of state." snapped Caitlin.

"Yet I do not have the luxury of having servants and matrons where I live, your ladyship." Answered The Peony. "Now what is it that you'd like to discuss with me just a couple of days after the new years?"

Caitlin gazed at The Peony, and took a box under her bed. A shoebox, one that had boots filled at one time, so it was quite large. Enough for a folder of documents.

"On July 2018, Prime Minister Barrett has legalized slavery, the response was instantaneous and had an impact. It is unfortunate that the war in Reizen has brushed this down, they had a momentum. President Davis was the line of defense, and upon his death the Prime Minister rejoiced. Now earlier this year they are going to reintroduce slavery. These papers contain their manifesto, all drafts of the laws."

"I have to say that I will vehemently disagree supporting slavery, distasteful. You're not suggesting me to be a part of this, are you?"

"Being a part of it, yes. Condemning it, yes." Caitlin said, she bounced on her springy bed and laying herself onto it.

"The world is excellent, I love seeing the high level of innovation that rises exponentially. Just this week after a cocktail party in Xin Yue there was this industrial and manufacturing fair. Machinations that could work 24 hours a day."

"Where are you going with this?"

"Slavery is such an expensive edict, people may benefit from the cheap labor, but the difference about slavery and an able proper workforce is that slavery does not utilize the most important part of the worker."

Caitlin then sat up and pointed her finger on The Peony's temple, flicking her.

"Ouch!"

"Without the innovation of the human mind, that country shall always continue to not innovate. Their workforce could not keep up with demands, and the only thing they will supply are such simple, basic and low quality." Said Caitlin, as she returned to her bed, sighing.

"The World Forum will definitely try to have a say in this. I know Ryccia would be blazing its guns."

"And they would not care! That Prime Minister does not care, everything is wrong and she is correct. That mindset is dangerous. Even after economical sanctions, she'll be so bullheaded, and you must grab by the horns. Yan, I have made some plans with a certain bank to send one of its operatives to ensure demands remain insignificant, they will have their own agenda, and it is imperative that you become... helpful, in this mission."

"The Peocracy shall ensure that they are mended. Let us begin this briefing."

Caitlin smiled, and gave Yan a tablet filled with the necessary details whilst briefing her the plan. After three cups of tea, and the departure of Doctor Kane and his friend, Yan place on her burka and exited.

"Oh one more thing." Said Doctor Yan to Caitlin, she took her finger and flicked Caitlin's forehead, somewhere medically proven to provide her such a large amount of pain. "There you go"

She made her way out of the cafe, and into her car. She drove out, still mulling on the plan. How on earth could she help something that isn't something at all?

"Lady Layton will see you now."

I got up, and walked into the room. A large office that could be comparable to a cathedral, it was minimalist in that it is a bit spacious, but close and you could see golden etches of fine Hammerstarian marble. China on display and the world map on display on the left. of the room. A lone marble desk was there, and behind it was a large window nearly ten metres high that towers over the city.

Lady Claire Andosterra Layton. The bank manager of the Templar Bank, a Layton, one of the four ruling families of Hammerstar and although not of the blood, she is one that certainly loves her puzzles more than any from the Layton family.

It is also weird to see the Hammerstarian High Paladin there, lady Raquelle Valotton, at the age of 24, she had taken the Paladineship with her youth party, the Jeune Partinie. It is weird to have the Zollern ambassador to the Peony, Lady Cherche of Rosanne sitting in front of her playing chess with the High Paladin. It is also odd to see the Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques De Miere, to be here as well reading the newspaper and somehow holding a cup of espresso. I do not know the other man with the silly haircut, blonde in centre and looking like a butler.

"Mr. Jones." Acknowledged Claire Layton, "I am in a sport for a puzzle, care me to give you one?"

"By all means, luflie propter."

"There are eight of us who go forth to protect from foes attack, and is destined to never come back until an end allow them a crown hat. What are we?"

".......Pawns."

"Excellent!"

"Now my lady, what a food tells you that you are prohibited to eat it?"

".....Carrot, Care not?"

"Close, Donut, Do not."

"Blast!" Claire exclaimed, as she sat back and giving a laugh. "Alright, come hither."

I walked towards the marble table and sat right in front of Lady Layton, other than balancing books she seemed to have a lot of books about puzzles and mathematics on her desk. It's no wonder that the honorable Lady Katia d’Sofia Layton V, had taken Claire under her wing. It is interesting to find her confident, seeing she is the one that's in the turmoil in Hammerstar all those years ago, one that caused High Paladin Dietrich Fillo do Xeo captured.

"Well Mr. Jones, it seems the Templar are once again in need of your services. Congratulations on your achievements in helping the Eastern continent become independent at last, as well as your transaction to fund our interests in Valora."

"I do not discuss my clients, Lady Layton."

"Well, your clients answer to me, Mr. Jones. Now I believe running the Cordillera branch of the Templar bank is a tremendous honor, and I am entrusting you with a task of upmost importance to the Bank of the Knights of Templar."

"You flatter me, my lady."

Lady Layton then slid a book of puzzles, and of course it was hollowed. Within is a tablet filled with the dossier of his mission.

"Qaweritoyou, a country run by a psychotic prime minister who appoints ministers as frequent as a girl picks up lilies, and goes through them as fast as a hiker goes through socks. Their legalization of slavery may reduce the cost of our interests, but people do not like to deal with our interests that have such disgusting track records, at least if these track records are made public." Said Lady Layton, "now I have brought both the High Paladin and the Zollern ambassador here in secrecy to discuss whether they may be willing to provide some.... logistics for your next mission. Though I do not want to disturb their chess match, I would like to point out that you will be bankrolled."

"That should be worth it."

"Sakana Mitsubishi Ltd. A seafood processing company, is keen to establish operations in the country. See to it that they grow, you are given charge of this company as one of the BOD and you are given an important role to convert these corporations."

"Convert?"

"See to it that the industrial minds of Qaweritoyou are not keen to choosing slavery as their preferred source of workforce. Ensure that they are willing to convert to automation and provide healthy workers benefit, see to it that in the end, the Templar Bank has control of interests in the country


"Let nothing stand in your way, contractor." Responded Grand Master De Miere, still unwavering his gaze at the window "Let it be known that you are a force to be reckoned with. I have provided you with one of my students, and she is already available at your disposal in the construction site."

"Bassington-French, a Hammerstarian-Zollern robotics and automations firm shall respond to you upon your arrival in Qaweritoyou." Exclaimed High Paladin Raquelle Valotton, "they will oversee any companies that might want to convert to more efficient methods of automation."

"Well you have the tools, have you not?" Asked Cherche, "our lines shall be available for you."

"Forgive their rudeness, Mr. Jones, they seem to be rather unnerved by the chess match."


"Of course, well. I shall be off, I promise I will get this done."

Bobby Jones stood up form his chair, book in hand and exited the grand room. As Lady Layton buzzed her secretary to book a table for a teahouse, Cherche gave a loud and stern exclamation.

"Checkmate!"
