Blender

Oh, and I masked out the legend with Gimp

I really heed a HD image without the names and delineations of the nations etc to create a more realistic version, trying to create a bump map from the suorce image that is available is tricky
#34

Well, you could possibly ask for one from the Farengeto Cartography Office.

Hey, there are already maps, normals and bump maps on the previous page. Still need a specular.

yes, but they contain text (names of nations, cities, borders etc) that detract from a globe- fine as an overlay, but they detract from a true globe image

If you need a specular just take the standard map desaturate, and ramp up the threshold in Gimp - essentially you wand a stark black& white image

By the way, that planet maker is a nice site- automatically replicates what I was doing in Blender!

I am sure Brutland and Norden can give you a blank version of the map if you ask him.

Ditortilla, what is Gimp, and how to you desaturate?
Was it Kris or Belschaft who gave me the blank bump map?

GIMP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP)

KringEdit: I hope you don't mind that I fixed the link, you had typed everything without spaces (GIMPLhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP).

B&N gave me a copy of his blank map a while back. And jump back a page and you'll find the bump map I made using it. (Simply desaturating it doesn't work, they're not sorted by saturation in any way.) I'll link you the original file as well soon.

Also there is no "Pacifica" map. They aren't created with any kind of continuity where maps even exist.
