Gate: Thus we united as one and fought there

"I'm sorry to hear that," the colonel replied with obvious sarcasm. "Since we're neutral, we might also check out the guys you're at war with. Afterall, we're just getting started."

Narrator: The history of the union is a long topic to discuss. In many worlds the Napoleonic wars ended with the Iberian region suffering a short occupation before having their kings and queens restored to power after the fall of the french empire. Yet in this one iberia wasn't so lucky. Their kings, queens and nobles dead a long occupation that destroyed most of the region's infrastructure. After the fall of the french empire there wasn't much left of the kingdoms of Portugal and Spain. Anarchy followed as the people fought for power. People who were once brothers and sisters in arms against the french now killed each other over a loaf of bread. Warlords ruled over the lands for decades before some semblance of the order came to the region. Through bloodshed and war 4 reigned over Iberia when the 20th century came along. When The Great War started the region once more feel to its base instincts of conflict. Yet like many of the nations in the endless trench warfare that was Europe the lines never moved. only death and despair was left for the men and women of iberia. Yet change was in the air a general who saw war and lead what small victories that he could claim for his nation. when the war ended he turned to the past for ways to unite Iberia. Praying to god and finding a new path through a vision from the gods of Roma. The general soon grew popular with his roman ethics and ideas. Marching on zaragozza with an army at his rear he took power over the nation that ruled the region and raised the banner of the Latin union with him as it's imperator. Through the peace of writing, he was able to unify eastern Iberia peacefully yet to the west lead the communist nation of republican spain.

When WW2 started the imperator thought of joining the axis to fight with his roman brothers across the sea. Yet with the communists right across the border and the limited industry of the union he could only send volunteers to help his Latin brothers. When the war turned sour for the axis and itlay lay sieged by both the germans and the allies the royal family and those of the grand council of fascism fled by sea towards the union for safety alongside thousands of Italian refugees. Benito and his family were personally granted safety by the imperator and told that one day he will see Italy once more. When the war ended and the world split in two between the communists and the capitalists many people started to grow warm to the idea of helping the union fully take over Iberia just so the communist state to their west would fall. So arms, trade, and even tactics flowed into the union making it a vastly wealthy nation compared to its past. yet the republicans were not to be left alone as well. The soviets armed them and treated them as brothers for the republicans fought alongside their fellow communists having a volunteer mount the flag of the republic over the Reichstag alongside the banner of the soviet union. They grew in power alongside the Latin union, with neither side being able to invade the other for if they did it would start a war that would end the world. Both just built up their forces and waited.

and when the century turned over and the cold war ended the unification war started. with the death of their 2nd imperator to republican assassins the union went to war with the republic through a bloody war that last half a decade the union was victorious. Iberia was unified under the banner of the union, and once it fixed the wounds of the unification war expanded out into the war through sword and pen. Brining order to western and central Africa, bringing the banner of rome to the new world and even unifying finally with their Latin brothers. All this through their 4th imperator and 1st Caesar Aurelian Octavian. The man who brought order to the continent of Africa, who saved France from revolution bringing it into the union, who revived the roman empire. who avenged his father when the council poisoned him. Under Aurelian the union is a superpower with no foreign force ever to land on its shores.

But even with all this the gods still have to test their followers, for the sons and daughters of Roma need to expand, and know that there shall always be something to test the blood and iron of Roma.

Aurelian looked out from his office from the imperial palace. Looking out towards Roma. A smile crept onto his face as he looked upon the renewed Rome. The coliseum was fully rebuilt its classical style covering modern additions to make the fights even more fanciful. The Circus Maximus could be seen with chariots racing around the tracks as thousands cheered on for their teams. The New grand pantheon built to house every god within the new church of Roma. Greek, Roma, and Abrahamic gods were worshiped in the building. Uniting every religion within the Union. In the center of the city stood a massive golden statue to his father Julius Octavian the man who unified iberia after over a hundred years of separation. His father's tomb lay beneath the station a grand resting place for such a great man. Aurelian could only let out a small smirk as he thought about how grander his resting place would be. Maybe he would be laid to rest within the grand pantheon as a man who unified the churches of the old world. Maybe an even bigger tomb and statute would be made in his honor as the man who revived the Roman Empire. As he looked out he could only think of the path that it took to get here. The lives lost the legions fallen, the great game he played. yet it was worth it all, Rome was now a superpower once more and the world both feared and revered it. He thoughts ended as there was a knock at his office door.

Aurelian: leaves the balcony and returns to his desk. Come in.

The door to his office opened as a man in an ornate praetorian armor entered the office. While some would think the ancient look wouldn't be well suited for modern combat the uniform did offer protection, ceramic plates hidden under the metal with kevlar protecting the more vulnerable parts. The man snapped a Roman salute to Aurelian Caesar of the Latin Union and took off his helemt.

Aurelian: Ah Trajan good to see you. I would think you would be taking a break and watching the race or even one of the gladiator matches going on.

Trajan was one of the captains of the praetorian guard alongside his brother, Hadrian, they protected the council and the royal family from threats within the union and outside of it. Unlike the praetorians of the past, these guards were picked from the most loyal and best troops from the legions. While they swore to protect both the council and Caesar after the failed coup of the council many of the praetorians that were left only bowed to the orders of Aurelian.

Trajan: Some of the guards did as such Casesar. But I've come to hand in the day's report.

Aurelian: Lets out a sigh of contempt. Yes yes. That always something to ruin a good day like this. The Coliseum and Circus finally opened and I'll be spending my time in my office looking over reports.

Trajan: You did order a year of games to be held with their reconstruction finished Caesar. You'll have time to visit them once the work is done.

Aurelian: nods quite.

Trajan: Puts the pile of papers on Aurelian's desk. These reports are from the African union mostly involving them asking for additional supplies for infrastructure. Some warlords within the more lacking regions are starting to diminish with the increase of military spending for the African legions. Brazil is also reporting that the rainforest campaign is showing a massive decrease of pollution within the region.

Aurelian: looking over the reports. That's good to hear. Send out an order to increase the legions within the regions of the AU. And for brazil send my congratulations to the governor there. Heard there were some whispers of resistance in France have the vigiles there increase their watch. I'd rather not have the Americans or Russians arming a full armed rebellion and jumping on our back.

Trajan: Yes sir.

The phone on the desk begins to ring.

Aurelian: answers the phone This is Aurelian.

Max: Hello Caesar this is the police chief from the eastern district calling in to ask if you had anything planned for the celebrations in our district.

Aurelian: None come to mind. May I ask why your asking me this?

Max: Well sir a strange Gate seemed to appear on one of the streets. One of the officers there called it in and I was thinking you might be planning something and not informed us.

Aurelian: gets up from his desk and goes to the balcony with the phone and looks towards the eastern district. I can see the gate from here, I think it might be a surprise from the-

there's noise from the other side of the phone as radio chatter seems to increase. Voices are heard in worried tones as foot falls increase in high tempo on the other side.

Max: Sir it seems the gate just opened and... From what I'm getting Roman legions are marching through alongside... orcs, goblins, and reports of dragons and wvyerns.

Aurelian: What!? Aurelian rushes towards his desk grabbing the binoculars off of it and looking towards the gate. His eyes must be deceiving him. he lowers the binoculars and raises them again thinking that it must be a trick of the light. But no there at the gate a rowdy horde of Romans and beasts are marching in some disorder into the streets.

Max: One of my officers is there trying to make contact. He said that he could understand them a bit. It seems they speak in a weird version of Latin and-

A loud shout is heard then chaos can be heard on the other side of the line. Aurelian turns towards Trajan who has his hand towards his earpiece listening in to the conversation and most likely talking to the guard that's deployed across the city.

Aurelian: what is going on!

Max: The Romans are attacking the officer got speared through his gut by one of the cavalrymen. We're deploying armed police to the area. The men on the ground are fighting back with their rifles but they won't last long.

Aurelian: Aurelian's handshakes a bit as he see's fires start to burst around the gate. gunshots heard echoing all the way to the palace. The dragons soar in the sky breathing fire down on the district as wveryns try to tame the sky. Do what you can Max I'll order the guard to be deployed towards Rome We won't allow another 410 to happen.

Max: yes sir. the line cuts.

Aurelian: turns towards Trajan who already has his helmet on and awaiting orders. Trajan call Hadrian and have the praetorians deployed to the eastern district use what armor you have to block off the streets and evacuated the local areas. I want all areas around the district evacuated and if you can get as many people out. As soon as you leave this room I want you to sound the alarm and get the local militias raised and form in the rear. have them cover the district to make sure another one of these gates don't open. Now go I'll call the high command and try to get this under control.

Trajan: snaps a salute and leave the room.

Aurelian: turns towards the burning eastern district. Why now. Is this a test... If it is I won't fail Rome will not burn today.

The sound of warfare could be heard through the metal and ceramic plating of the AFV. Gunfire and some light cannon fire echoed through the streets of the eternal city. And all the contubernium could feel at that moment was rage. Rage that barbarian's wearing the cloth of Rome would dare DARE set fought and fire to the great city. The contubernium checked their rifles and machineguns once more knowing they were nearing their drop point. They could hear the gunner shout something as the .50 cal opened up on something above them. They could hear the rest of the guns of the convoy open up as they heard a loud screech and crash happen somewhere next to them.

Lucius: stoping his praying and looking stern towards his men. Mars shall guide us in this battle. His rage flows through us let it guide you and slay these barbarians and send them back to their shacks. And for the name of Sol protect the aquilifer with your lives don't let any of them get near the bearer. Is that clear.

Victus and his brothers and sisters cheer out an affirmative.

Lucius: good.

The tires of the AFV stopped as the driver banged against the door separating the rooms.

Lucius: ROMA INVICTA!

The contubernium pours out of the AFV as the .50 cal lights up taking out a few more flying hostiles. The AFVs behind them unload their troops and behind the rushing rage-filled faces of the legionnaires the golden eagle of Roma could be seen coming out of the vehicle in the middle of the convoy. The symbol Of Roma was with them this day, and now it looked darker than usual.

Lucius: Victus stop staring at the bearer and move forward!

Victus: Yes centurion!

Ahead of them they could see a shield wall of police officers holding the line. Their shields scratched and cracked from sword and arrow blows. Those with rifles were in the rear shooting through the gaps as those with their shields fired their pistols into the barbarians in front of them. The centurion in charge of this effort was shouting words of encouragement as his head and plume looked left and right of the line. When he heard the .50 cal light up behind him he turned and saw salvation he smiled as he saw the eagle of Roma move towards his line.

Lucius: Grenidares clear the line!

On the orders of Lucius riflemen moved forward alongside a few with grenade launchers moved forward and unleashed their destructive mass against the barbarians. Seeing their allies fall and the AFVs moving up unleashing deadly lead against their unorganized lines they started to retreat.

Lucius: Don't let them retreat bleed them dry! AVENGE ROMA!

With that shout, the tired and injured police line opened up to let the fresh legionaries charge forward. Victus moved forward taking moving potshots at the retreating barbarians. They moved deeper and deeper into the district seeing the chaos that this filth had brought with them. Men, women and children lay to the way said of their charge. Many father and mothers taking arms in their last seconds fighting to the last. Victus saw one image that would stay with him for the day. The body of a man laying over something big and green a kitchen knife stabbed in the beast's eye with the sword of the beast gutting him. The spirit of mars was with that man. Soon a voice cleared through the air one very familiar to the legions.

Aurelian: My brothers and sisters. Roma is besieged this day, not from enemies that we thought would come to destroy our glory. No barbarian filth! wearing the armor of our ancestors have raided the eastern district. Already the militia and guard have started to push them back with true roman might. Yet we must truly rid our city of this filth and soon the angels of Jupiter with their firey vengeance shall rid the skies and the land of these barbarians! Look to the skies my brothers and sisters for our vengeance has arrived!

victus looked up and saw missiles fly ahead of their line crashing against a shakey shield wall that was set up by the barbarians at the end of the street. their limbs flew through the sky as the unlucky once burned alive. A few meters in front of their line a cargo helicopter dropped a tank. Which revved up its engine and roared forward the rage of Vulcan clear in the rage of the engine. The men cheered as they saw Jupiter's wrath flew forward bringing rightful vengeance towards the barbarians. Victory was now written in stone the legionaries still charged forward grouping up with reinforcements that dropped in from transport helicopters. More Aquilas raised as they charged towards the gate that opened and brought this filth into Roma. The men slowed down a bit as they saw a beast of a creature. Standing tall above the buildings around it carrying a club the size of a it stared down at the legionnaires and let out a mighty roar. Only to be quieted by an HE round tearing through its chest. The creature let out a soft yelp as it fell back onto a house crashing through the third and second story.

Lucius: Onwards men the gate is before us push them towards it then charge through it! Let us show them what happens when they try and mess with the sons and daughters of ROME!

 Saderan perspective

Janus was like another other legionnaire for the empire. He raised up seeing the legions crush barbarians and those rabbits tribes that dared fight against the glory of the empire. He joined the legion young waiting fame and fortune for his family and ancestors. When he joined the legions and marched onto Alnus Hill he could only think of the pillage he could get. Maybe a few slaves to help out at the farm enough gold to help get his father some potions. It would all work out at the end. Yet when they marched through that gate all they met with was death. The gods betrayed the empire as thousands of veterans died before his eyes the pride of the empire was brought low within a few hours and soon every routed out of the gate. The legions were broken as thousands fled into the countryside. Yet greed and fame brought the legions back together the banner of the empire was cast down and the black flag was raised. Janus was not very proud of joining under the bandit flag but he needed something to return home with. Their leader a centurion that was part of the old legion came up with a plan to attack the city of Italica if they took it they could sack it then return to their homes with something. Yet as they got closer to the city many were having second thoughts. Empire cities were made to take sieges they lost all their siege weapons when they passed through the gates. They didn't have mages it would mean an assault on the city and while the garrison was small the walls were tall and strong. So on the way there they saw something many feared. Another gate, an hour-long discussion took place with their old leader being killed in a duel by a younger one. This leader told them exactly what janus thought and instead told them that they should go through this gate. Since the old one was cursed this one was the true one. Janus thought back on everything and when this gate opened marched forward. He was a fool.

Janus now ran as fast as his legs could carry him. These monsters spoke the tongue of the empire. At first things were going good they saw buildings like the Empire the people spoke its tongue. When one of the guards came up to talk to their leader he gutted the man. and declared the raid to start. It only went downhill from there. He heard those thunderous echoes through the streets of the city. He was prepared to flee when the first echos started yet the men around him stopped him. metal elephants and men and strangely women filled with hate used those magic poles to kill their men. Once the shield wall fell he ran. dropped his sword and shield and ran as fast as he could. He ripped what armor he had on him as well as he ran. He heard the screams of rage behind him as he saw more people like him running towards the gate. He even saw Jorge the Giant go down, he didn't talk to the giant much the giant was too kind of a soul for what they were doing. As he ran he saw the harpy soared overhead jumping from building to building looking over the battle. He saw a wicked smile on her lips as the screams seemed to glide through the air.

Janus: Please Emroy please protect me. I don't want to die today. I just want to return home and farm it was a mistake joining the legion.

so he kept running seeing the harpy wherever he went. Maybe it was a sign, he was gonna die and she was going to take his soul. He didn't know what was worse than getting captured by those beasts of rage or getting taken by the harpy. So he kept running. And soon he saw the gate and let out a happy cheer. he wasn't going to die today. He was going to live, he saw hundreds already fleeing through the gate dropping their gear and running. He was going to join them soon. Yet he heard an echo and felt something going through his body, then pain. Janus screamed as he fell to the ground clutching his stomach. He was dying he saw what those metal things could do to people wearing the best armor in the empire. He used what strength he had to try and crawl to the gate. He saw what men were around the gate fall from the thunder poles. He looked back and saw the men of the golden eagle march towards him. One that looked like a centurion marched towards him carrying the smaller metal pole as he walked towards him. Janus crawled faster and faster but he felt a boot step on his spine.

Lucius: Die barbarian.

Janus looked forward tears in his eyes as he saw the harpy standing at the gate smiling at his last seconds. He tried to shout out for help yet before he could darkness took him.

Aurelian strode back and forth in the war room. The legates there were patting themselves on their backs as reports came in from the eastern district. He saw the reports and while for the public it was good on paper it wasn't. Overzealous centurions reporting in that none of the invaders were spared by their units. Out of the thousands that came through that gate only a few dozen were captured mostly by police units that came in with the legions. Then of course there was the international backlash. The Russians were calling this a revolt from the oppressed people of Italy. The Americans were calling the executions of the raiders a breach of the rules of war. Just like before the nations were looking at the union with dread and lies. He could feel a headache forming already from the incompetence coming from the other superpowers. Right now rage with the general emotion of the union. A few units had already broken orders and charged into the gate, taking a few armored vehicles with them. This he hated, he maybe had a few people to have the vigs interrogate and the international perspective wasn't currently in his favor.  He heard a noise rise up breaking him from his thoughts. he looked towards the noise and saw Trajan with Hadrian at his side looking at him.

Aurelian: Sorry Trajan I was lost in my thoughts.

Trajan: These are rough times sir. I came to inform you that a prisoner wanted to speak with you. I already informed the guard-

Aurelian: Take me to them.

Trajan: Blinks Casear are you sure.

Aurelian: I only have a few dozen people from beyond that gate that are alive. Half will be interrogated till they can't speak anymore and a quarter will be dead by the end of the day. Take me to them.

Trajan: Yes sir.

12 guards walked with the imperator as he headed towards the jails that were holding the prisoners of war. Aurelian was left with his thoughts and the city before him. The city was different now, the holy city was attacked and raided by an unknown force. The happy and joyful atmosphere that was here in the morn was gone. Replaced with one of rage and fear. All he could hope for was that at the end of the day he would have the people cheer out in one voice of rage and anger and not one of disunity and fear. He looked towards the eastern district as they got closer to the prison. He thought about what could have caused it. Was it the gods showing the dirty and dark past of Rome. To show how far they have come from it. Or was it something else?  He thought about what questions to ask the prisoner there were the easy ones. Which nation are you from? what are your military numbers? Will there be another attack? Then there was the one he wanted to know. Why? Why attack the union, why attack civilians. Course he had to hope by the time he arrived the prisoner hadn't lost his fingers and tongue to an overzealous guard or vig. He let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding as he arrived at the prison. He stepped out and passing the shield wall of legionnaires and police that had been set up around the jail. The guards walked in a tight formation around him as he entered the building. As he got deeper into the depths he started to hear the choros of violent integration going on. The union did on occasion do these acts but were more inclined to do the softer approach of bribe and convert. But this was different, and he could guess that many of the interrogators had thrown the rule book. Aurelian could only hope that there would be something he would get out of this. As he got deeper could feel that he was getting closer to the questions that he wanted to be answered.

Aurelian: So what rank is the prisoner.

Trajan: From what we can gather they're a Mercenary.

Aurelian: So someone working for pay. I'm surprised that they weren't killed like everyone else.

Trajan: This one is different sir. From the reports from the police, she was able to control wind and send their grenades back to their lines.

Aurelian: Magic? Wait she? weren't most of the enemy combatants male?

Trajan: From what we can tell from her general appearance, and that is the idea on the ground. She seemed to come along with the forces that reach the gate quite peacefully.

Aurelian: Did any?

Trajan: No sir the idea on the ground by the legionnaires thought of her as a slave or a prisoner of war.

Aurelian: Before the police report about her came in.

Trajan: Yes sir.

Aurelian: Anything I should be informed of before I go in?

Trajan: The men that brought her in reported feeling a bit woozy when she talked a bit much.

Aurelian: Could be exhaustion. Or could be magic... If I do anything strange.

Trajan: I'll be the first one to tackle you to the ground.

Aurelian: ... Thank you, Trajan.

Trajan: No problem sir.

Outside the door to the prisoner heavily armed legionnaires stand at the ready. Once they see Aurelian moving towards them they straighten their backs and snap a salute. Both shouting Ave Caesar as they do so.

Aurelian: Yes. Yes, thank you, my guard can handle it from here.

They both nod and leave.

Aurelian: sighs well then. Let me get a face to face with this person.

Aurelian opens the door and blinks at what he see's. Aurelian thought that after the gate opening and seeing giants, and green things march into the eastern district he couldn't be surprised anymore. But sitting across the interrogation table was what best he could describe as a bird person. Even when she is sitting he can tell she could stand multiple heads over any of the guards around him. Aurelian could see her standing shoulder to shoulder with Thrax. yet her height wasn't the only thing that caught his eye. What he could describe as green father hair flowed from her head all the way to her waist. The feathers on her arms, the strange scale feather-like armor she wore. And by Sol she had chicken legs! Well, chicken feet with feathers covering her lower leg. She looked towards Aurelian and he could tell she found some enjoyment from his shocked look.

Myuute: Are you the leader of this city?

Aurelian: clears his throat and takes a seat opposite of her I'm am indeed the leader of this city, but also of the Roman Empire.

Myuute: So you're an emperor.

Aurelian: My position can be called as such, but I'd rather have the title of Caesar. It has been used before by leaders of the state of Rome.

Myuute: looks at him a bit more interest Caesar you say. There's a man that holds that name in the empire. One of the sons of the emperor

Aurelian: And what is this emperor's name, in fact, what is the name of this empire.

Myuute: Emperor Molt Sol Augustus of the Saderan Empire. But this is not simply me giving away this information. You ask I ask.

Aurelian: So a quid pro quo.

Myuute: Yes. First I want to speak with you alone.

Trajan: Sir I'd adive-

Aurelian: Raises his hand leave.

Trajan: sighs Yes sir.

Trajan along with the rest of the guards in the room left. letting Aurelian and Myuute be alone.

Myuute: Hmmm. Brave of you to leave yourself exposed like this.

Aurelian: One if you tried anything the guards would bust down that door and fill you with enough lead to make you a hundred pounds heavier. And two if you strike me down someone less rational will take my place and burn anything beyond that gate to the ground. And you would be forced to watch as everything you ever knew and loved burn before your eyes.

Myuute: leans back a bit wide eye from that last declaration then smiles. You have a spine for someone of your position.

Aurelian: I have been keeping it well for someone in my current predicament. claps his hands making myuute raise an eyebrow. We've skipped over a few steps, while I certainly want to get to the hundreds of questions I want you to answer. Its best we get introductions out of the way. I'm Aurelian Octavian Caesar of the Latin union and you are.

Myuute: Myuute Luna Sires mercenary for hire.

Aurelian: A merc you certainly chose the wrong people to join up.

Myuute: They paid well for the rabble that they were. They didn't have any mages to help them out so they hired me.

Aurelian: A mage so you can do some magic.

Myuute: She raises her hand and blades of wind start to circle around her arm.

Aurelian: goes wide-eyed by the gods.

Myuute: There's more I can do but as you said quid pro quo. Now then I want a drink. Your finest wine.

Aurelian: Takes out his phone and calls the palace. the whole time Myuute looks on with confusion at the strange glass box that he is holding to his ear. This is Aurelian, tell one of the staff to grab the red wine by my desk. Yes the one from my personal winery, and bring it towards the jail. Thank you. presses the end call button and sets the phone back in his pocket.

Myuute: What was that?

Aurelian: ah ah ah. quid pro quo. the wine is on its way. leans forward. now then lets get down to brass tacks.

Myuute: smiles and leans forward overshadowing Aurelian. Lets.

Union perspective

The more Aurelian and Myuute listened to each other the more they grew intrigued. Aurelian learned that there was another gate beyond his that lead to some other nation that from the sound of it was a modern nation. And for Myuute she came to understand that this world was leagues above the empire and anything she'd ever seen. And when she asked about their strongest she grew to fear it. The way Aurelian described this Nuke the more she knew that these bandits had awakened a sleeping dragon. and all she could hope was that the man before her could temper it before it razed everything she knew to the ground. After hours of talking and drinking the whole bottle of wine which Myuute drank all of after learning about nuclear weapons. Aurelian had learned everything he could about the new frontier and Myuute had learned to fear the man before her. So she cut a deal with the man before her. One that she thought would help both her and him. Soon Aurelian stepped out of the room and looked towards Trajan.

Aurelian: She is to be given a position in the auxiliaries her crimes while on her new record are to be paid in due to her service in the legions. She is also to be given a representing rank of being the guide for our legions in the New Frontier.

Trajan: looks at Caesar shocked sir you can't be-

Aurelian: I am. She has worked as a merc across the empire and its lands for years. She knows the people and the lands, it would take us years of drone imaging and frumentarii to get what she has. This is an imperial decree and won't be broken is that clear.

Trajan: Looks at aurelian and nods yes sir.

Aurelian: Good. I will be having a meeting with imperial high command soon to talk about the expedition into the new frontier. looks back at Myuute who is looking at the table. Get her another drink something harder. I think she's taken my previous threat and realized the horrible truth behind it.

Trajan: Yes sir.

Aurelian walks away with half the guards he came herewith. He thinks back about her talking about the other gate. His frumentarii hadn't reported anything like this happening in any other state on earth. It could have been a vacant region that the other gate was opened in. But the way she described it from the deserters' point of interaction it sounded like they were dropped in a city. But again if it was that it would be all over the internet hell nations would be calling him asking if he developed some sort of time traveling gate and unleashing Romans on them. So With what information he had, there is a gate somewhere out there... And if this gate was connecting their world to his there could be a possibility that the other gate was connecting to another world. He already has to deal with a world of magic he could only hope that whatever was through the other gate couldn't be worse. He looked out the window seeing some smoke rising from the eastern district. He could only hope.

Myuute perspective

She was afraid, when she came through this gate and saw these buildings she thought she was going to get a mighty fine pay day. When the bandits were getting shot and routed she found some enjoyment out of it. How couldn't she the men had raided towns and villages. She knew she had to join or she would end up shackled or killed by the deserters. She didn't run like the others cause she thought she could talk to whoever was running this city and offer to work for them. When she was taken to this prison and had Aurelian sit before her all she could see was money. Give the man some sweet talk and lead him around to show some magic and she could maybe get her weight in gold. Yet the more they talked the more she learned and grew to fear the man before her. He made a threat at the start when he foolishly ordered his men to leave. I mean she did ask for alone time but she thought a single guard would stay. But when he said if he died someone would take his place and raze everything she knew and make her watch. She thought he was just wearing some big pants. But now she knew, she knew he was serious. those guns, and tanks he had weapons worse. Much much worse. He told her that those nukes couldn't go through as they were, but he said he did have something that could move them through if he needed to. Something like that and this union could reign terror on the empire. Those bandits were fools to open the gate. and so was the empire, if that other gate opened to a world like this. Then everything was doomed. She looked up at the ceiling of the room and prayed.

Myuute: Please Emroy guard that man. For I fear the wrath that his people will bring upon our world if he falls.
