[Discussion] Moot Court?
#1

Hello everyone!

I'd like to know if there is any appetite for a moot court. To those who might be unfamiliar, a moot court is a simulation of a real court that helps those interested in learning more about judicial procedure. If that sounds boring, please bear with me and keep reading.

In the South Pacific, moot court would take the form of a fake and often fun question that is asked before the fictional "Court of the South Pacific for the District of Government Island". If you would like an example of this, please refer to North Prarie v. Varanius, a mock trial where Varanius was charged with puppy kicking.

If this seems like something you would be interested in (for example by arguing a case, acting as judge or writing news as a reporter), or even if you'd like to see more of it without necessarily participating, please take just one or two minutes to fill out the following survey, which will let us know if there'd be any interest in a moot court. If you have any comments, also feel free to reply to this thread or just message me in the chat!

I do not participate in the regional server, but I am happy to talk through instant messaging or on the forum.

We used to do this in Equinox with great success. Unfortunately it was later on, so regional activity diminished significantly. I'm sure if that hadn't happened it would have been something we were known for. In Liberalia, we used to do fake legislation in a separate section that also was very successful. I can't say much for the court, but the legislation one did develop better writing skills for legalese and other things for people. I'm a terrible writer, but most of my best writings were inspired by old legislation or things like that that were done in this vein. I'm sure that would apply to courts as well.

I would be ALL for this! It gives new peeps, or even peeps who aren't all that familiar with how the court works an opportunity to see it in action on something that really doesn't have much impact outside of fun and learning!
