It might surprise some of our newer members that we still haven't managed to compile a full record of our regional history. The South Pacific is one of the oldest regions in NationStates and has a long and interesting history, ever since it was created around April 2003. The objective of the Historical Project is to make such a record, so that we can learn about our regional history, and let others learn about it as well.

First I want to focus on making accurate lists of all our past government officials, based on whatever records we can find. We already have a list of Delegates, a list of Vice Delegates and a list of Ministers of Foreign Affairs. We have had so many different officials throughout the years, such as the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Security, the Prime Minister, the Vice President, the Minister of Intelligence, the Minister of the Region, to name a few. We need to learn about all of them, to see who they were and what their role was in the region.

If you have any specific moments of our history that you think are worth studying, please post here. Right now I want to focus on the government lists, but anything aside from that could be a priority as well.
We could also find the creation and changes to the Charter and Code of laws, and maybe who and/or why the changes were made. I think it's an important part of TSP history. Maybe the different electoral and voting processes; I found digging through the old forums a lot has been changed and such through the years.

Just a thought, I don't think it should be a priority but fun to find out and archive nonetheless!
You won't find the thread about the original Charter, fair warning, but I agree, we could look for early records and such. I'll definitely add it to the list.

I would like to have a discussion about properly organising the Historical Project, so that we are making a coordinated effort, rather than having individual investigations just for the sake of it. The idea is eventually releasing some kind of report or publication about our regional history, so I would welcome opinions and suggestions about how to have an organised research, where we can all do our part, and most importantly, so it won't be overwhelming or confusing to any of us.
Well, off the top of my head it'd probably be something like an Index or a Table of Contents. I didn't organize this in any particular order. It not only covers future assignments, but also allows a simple lay out of what needs to be done. I'll leave prioritizing to you Kris. Thoughts?

Bold Current Priority
+ Would consist not only those who held positions, but also the creation/liquidation.
We could comb the forums one by one, dividing specific tasks among each of us, and post our findings here every twenty-four hours. Then, it would be up to Kris to sort each report into a single post, which would be edited when more progress is made and eventually categorized for public view both on the forum and as a dispatch. Maybe keep a back-up of all this information somewhere anyone could view. The Wayback Machine seems like a reliable way to store all this.
I would have to agree with TAC; it would be a more efficient way of completing the historic project without everyone trying to do the same thing at the same time. We could also double check (as we are now) our findings with the rest of the historic team.

TAC: Unfortunately, I believe after going through the old forums that the MoRA and Minister of the Region (and previous versions of such) had different angles on the department, and should be treated separate from one another in your idea of the Index.

All in all tho, I'm super glad to see someone as interested in the Historical Project ^^.
Thanks, I like to keep as busy as possible. Since I have so much free time, I have no reason to not put in as much effort as possible.
You and me both my friend Smile.

I believe we should start from earliest department(s) we can find. It makes sense.

Next, depending on the number of the staff of the Project, have certain people working on a list of Ministers/Representatives of different departments (with some people double checking the work) and another team working on finding the department's major works (if any).
Do we start with positions/ministries that still exist or start with those that no longer exist like The Grand Council?
