A picture of me

Salam Kenal

Name's Knights, or you may have known me as Hammerstar/TIK. I am from Indonesia, and I was Sòlda Ansyen since march, and stuck by that title until now. Though most of you knew me as a newbie, I was actually a member of the South Pacific many years ago, and I recently reactivated my account and feel that my presence in the region should be more omnipresent, knowing how great this region is for a nation like me. I’m sure you all agree that this region is one in which fun and influence is not short in.

You might have known my running for local council after Kringalia nominated me, I was surprised, knowing that I have only been here for a short amount of time, and all I did was spam and Role-Play in thesouthpacific.x10.mx. I lost the campaign to The Solar System Scope, which I knew had a presence in The South Pacific way longer than me, but I was proud, knowing that he was the perfect man for the job, and I willingly withdrew myself from the race so that he knows that he has my full support.

Now I have volunteered to run as Minister of the Army, for I see that if there’s a place that needed a great support and reformation, is the South Pacific Special Forces, I mean, the MoA has the most campaign threads in Election Central, and there are currently 5 candidates running for MoA, and I realize that they are great soldiers, truly. I have undying respect to every single one of them.

An Improved and Reformed SPSF

I am fully aware of the state in the SPSF, and its operational system. It was great, considering it turned me to the soldier I currently am. But I believe we can make it better. The soldiers in the South Pacific Special Forces are one of the most knowledgable, skilled and disciplined troupe I’ve seen in my life. Combined with my ideas for the SPSF, I swear, I’ll make the SPSF one that the region can take pride in.

These are a couple of the points I shall give in my campaign

Existence
It has come to the army’s attention that although our forces are incredibly skilled and well versed at what they do, we are still short of members, and I believe that it is primarily due to the fact that the majority of population from The South Pacific has claimed that the SPSF was and I quote:

“..Had only seen it as a separate forum on the site that was relatively inactive.

Furthermore, a poll that was initiated a couple of months ago in the region. It’s title: “What are your thoughts on the SPSF (South Pacific Special Forces) performance in the past few months?”

I believe that the results was initially reported by Darkstrait in the May review:

Out of 112 voters:
10 voted for the option "They did pretty well". This consisted mostly of people active on the forum and in government.
14 voted for the option "The did okay". This was also more forum people, although there were some who are not members.
3 voted for "They didn't do a good job".
59--- a vast majority--- voted for "I don't really know what they've done in the past few months". This included forumites such as Qwert (Sedunn), The Solar System Scope, and The Agnostic Collective. However, it was mostly people who are inactive on the forum (including those active on the RMB such as Bear Connors Paradizo, Curlyhoward, and Alice Parker).
19 chose the option "What's the SPSF?" indicating their ignorance on the subject. Without exception this consisted of those who are either new to TSP or are not very active in general.
7 of our most sarcastic residents voted for "What does sunscreen have to do with anything?". < Nice touch by the way.

The results were analysed by ProfessorHenn and Farengeto, They said on their report:

“While it has been mentioned above that the SPSF has been successful throughout this term, outward communication remains a challenge. A recent poll by the Local Council showed that 56% of respondents do not know of recent missions and 18% are not aware of the SPSF: This shows a serious disconnect between the SPSF and the South Pacific, since the region appears not to feel the benefits of having a military. It is important for the Special Forces to improve its communication with residents and citizens by advertising its successes and promoting the benefits of enlistment.

It has also sparked concern to assembly members concerning this:

1. How can we increase the number of soldiers in the SPSF and make the SPSF more existent in The South Pacific?

Though the RMB and the telegrams have been incredibly useful in recruiting, the fact that about half of the citizens in The South Pacific are down in the dark concerning the SPSF has seriously jeopardized the telegram and RMB recruitment messages, they'll simply dismiss it as spam. Of course, the other candidates do have more ways to recruit, however, we must first establish a certain reputation that there was indeed a Military in The South Pacific. An approach of the newly reformed military would be by continuously conducting operations and keeping a certain transparency and honesty between the civilians and the army, to a point where it would completely sate our citizen’s curiosity, while still keeping the confidentiality of our military operations against enemy forces.

If we were to attain a reputation, and state our strong influence and presence in The South Pacific, in order for people would immediately click the link, and enter the army. Our regime would continue to retain the usual recruiting methods, and perhaps improve them to give a more exciting image instead of a downright serious one.

However, with improvement, comes with something new.

One of the methods I wish to use in order to create a strong presence is through the use of Role-Play, as I am sure you are aware, when played correctly, Role-Play is a lot of fun, it could pique your curiosity to read and know more as a novel would do. Our recent operational reports in ‘A Blank Canvas’ and ‘De-tagging 16 Mafia regions’ have used role-play as its main platform, it made the Forces somewhat more... Exciting, and a fun place to be. If we can make the military more thrilling, we would continue to arouse the curiosity of our civilians concerning the South Pacific Special Forces, while simultaneously increasing troop morale.

Training
I believe that if you have a sword, you must continuously sharpen the blade. For me, it is better to have a thin knife that is sharpened to perfection, than having an unused rusty broadsword. When I first joined the SPSF, I wasn’t given the proper training, they gave me direct orders and sent me to work immediately. My first mission was to be stationed in Lazarus when the New Pacific Order rushed in, and I learnt along the way, with not a lot of people guiding me. They thought I already knew, which I didn’t.

I know that there are several soldiers in the SPSF, even though they are still fresh recruits, they immediately knew their way around the battlefield. But please understand that not a lot of people could spare their time reading the entire manual to defending and raiding in Nationstates, and everyone has their phase of development. However, this does rise a concern, because no one is training our troops in an orderly and proper manner, and assessing them of their understandings. They are immediately going to the battlefield, with only direct orders from the senior soldier, if we were to become a great army, we would need to have highly trained soldiers that are well versed in all military gameplay, and an ace in one job.

In my term as MoA, I shall issue a 1W1O (One Week, One Operation) program, however I am still going to consult with my fellow soldiers on a more comfortable program. In which to test our soldiers and assess them of their understanding in NS military gameplay, if our military were to establish a strong presence in NationStates, we would need to be omnipresent, and continue to be active. Sure, the recent surge of activity in the army does give evidence to the members of the assembly and our citizens that we can actually be active, however, let us not cling to this sole fact. We need to keep activity constant, and continue to report to the assembly and citizens of The South Pacific that we are, indeed, growing and working under the agenda of The South Pacific.
Another thing that I shall put forth in the SPSF is to specialise separate jobs to different soldiers, so that they have their own specialities. One could be timekeeper, one could be lead, one could be switcher, and so on and so forth. I figure out that one of the best ways to conduct speciality training is to create a certain simulation that shall be done through a buddy system between a more experienced member and the recruit. For example, if the simulation was about timekeeping, the recruit shall have the opportunity to learn about timekeeping in the target region through hands-on approach under the guidance of his/her senior, and continue to improve and improve.

ProfessorHenn

Don't post a thread during elections in a campaign subforum if your campaign isn't even ready.
How would you specifically handle differences of opinions between you and the MoFA on how the Army should support/implement Foreign Policy?

What is the most important thing an Army needs?
I'll post everything by tomorrow

Let me enjoy lebaran first.
What makes you better than the rest of the candidates ?

Why should I vote for you ?
Are you still in the race? You still haven't posted your campaign thread...
Tactics Sib - sound out what the oppositions stance on things are, and the electorates consequent response, then launch a campaign that encompasses the well received elements and avoids those not so welcomed - hearts and minds

Actually, no. He's just been really busy with Lebaran. He hasn't had time to sit down and do it yet.

….My cousins from USA came all the way to Indonesia, it'll be the last time we'll be together, because everyone's going to college next year, including me.

So, sorry for placing my family in a higher priority than this election.
If you guys want to see my campaign, I have posted some of it. I'll post more later.
