What's up TSP! I'm running for FA and would love your vote in this Cabinet Election.

First things first, let's knock out the experience stuff so we can get to the plans and goals and exciting things.

I've been on this game for about 7.5 years now. Over the years I've garnered a pretty comprehensive understanding for NS International Relations, as well as just general Foreign Affairs experience. Recently, I've had the absolute pleasure of serving on the TSP Foreign Affairs team as Escade's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs which has helped further my understanding of TSP dynamics both at home and abroad as well as allowed for myself to be able to work on projects such as the Game of Thrones Festival, the newly signed treaty with Conch Kingdom, as well as the roll out of our new Ambassador/Foreign Update Program. I've got no other political roles anywhere, so I can dedicate plenty of time to The South Pacific now that midterms have conveniently come to an end.

Let's get to the meat and potatoes though. Plans and goals!

First things first, I'm a strong advocate of a continued TSP-centric Foreign Policy, along the lines of what we have had these past two terms. The South Pacific shouldn't be making Foreign Affairs moves unless it benefits the diplomatic influence and overall prosperity of The South Pacific. I think expectations for TSP to compromise in favor of a foreign power's interests should be treated with appropriate caution, as we're nobody's bitch.

Moving past that, I'm a huge supporter of the current intertwinings that have been built between Foreign Affairs and Regional Affairs in terms of building Culture-Based Foreign Affairs. Festivals are a fantastic expression of soft power and social politics, and they help bring regions closer together. In a lot of places, I've seen Foreign Affairs just toss Festival duties solely to RA, and I think a continued partnership between the ministries can be very prosperous. If elected, I intend to begin working post haste on Cultural Celebrations with our two new allies The Union of Democratic States and Conch Kingdom, as well as beginning to place feelers out for cultural plans with other allies such as The North Pacific. While we're unsure of what format Z-Day will take in late October, I think that could serve as a potential venue for cultural ties if they expand the event with some of the more high-tech features we've seen during N-Day.

Externally, I want to continue finding and building relationships from regions that we are interested in befriending and that The South Pacific would find benefit from being in accords with. While it's not a life-or-death necessity, since there are times where there are simply no positive embassy prospects, it'll be something I intend to pursue nonetheless. Our recent N-day alliance (with TNP and others) shows the potential that these events have for finding and working with allies.

On the topic of Foreign Updates and Ambassadors, I spearheaded the new format as part of last term's Foreign Affairs Team, and I'm really excited to continue pursuing it as a platform. We've seen a very promising first wave of sign-ups, with all Ambassadors executing their duties wonderfully abroad, and I look forward to staffing the rest of our embassies with excited and dedicated individuals as well. In a tie-in with these new Ambassadors, as many of you are well aware we've made it extra-official that we've dispensed with the tedious "ultra long foreign update" format. The new format of quick blurbs detailing TSP Affairs were received really well, with our update on TSP's New Treaties not only drawing attention but actual interaction within our embassy threads abroad. I'm beyond excited that it's had such a successful inception, and look forward to continuing it as a system moving forward. Through our streamlined Discord FA Server, we're able to ensure that updates get put out in a timely fashion and are able to quickly document interactions with allies and embassies

In terms of FA Organization, I love the FA Server that we currently have. It allows for an effective and streamlined communication source, and it's a lot easier to discuss timely matters on there than through a forum. However, I'm a firm believer in documenting affairs that go on and would look to utilize the FA areas of the forum, both public and private, for matters such as drafts, summaries of discussions, and general information worth noting.

Beyond that, the Foreign Affairs Minister is part of a team, and I'm really excited at the prospect of potentially working with the rest of the Cabinet for these next months. The South Pacific is a fantastic region, and I'm really excited to help it grow and prosper even further through an avenue that I feel very at home performing in. Along that line, I'd be more than happy to also work with the MoMA and SPSF to assist in any military ties that could be formed, on either side of R/D. I have a well-documented track record of being able to keep OpSec about military affairs even when they counter my own views and opinions, and would look to continue that. Having done it as Commander-in-Chief of the raider-aligned Osiris Sekhmet Legion, which was at its most active during my tenure as Pharaoh, I feel confident that I’d be able to perform in any similar situations within The South Pacific if necessary.

I think that about sums up my general platform. I tried to keep it pretty no bullshit, as I used to be a major subscriber to the "3 campaign buzzwords" category of campaigning, and it just got tiring to shoehorn everything into the most exciting sounding three "pillars".

If you guys have any questions, comments, concerns, expressions of affection, or anything else, please don't hesitate to post away!

Thanks Y'all!
Tim
The South Pacific currently has two GCR partners: The North Pacific, and The Rejected Realms. Is this a level of integration with our fellow GCRs that you find comfortable, or would you pursue more GCR partners like The East Pacific, and/or The Pacific if elected?
I for one would like to see TSP’s GP Thread become more active. What plans to you have for our gp embassy during your term?
Full support, Go Tim o7
A couple questions on your current foreign involvements:
  • As we have been facing a lot of hate from certain groups over our relations with The Grey Wardens, do you expect your affiliations with them will cause any issues for TSP and if so how do you plan to deal with it?
  • As founder of Spiritus you have an important connection to the region. How would you handle potential concerns of bias towards Spiritus in your FA policy?
And one last question, which particular regions (allies or not) do you believe we should most focus on developing our relationships with during the upcoming term?
What do you plan to do should you not be elected?

- What are your solutions to reduce the level of hate from certain groups due to our relationship with the mainstream defenderdom?
- Assume a foreign affairs scandal happened, how would you resolve it in general?
- Do you want to keep TSP's current military-foreign-affairs ideological alignment? Why and why not?
If I'm judging TSP by the gameplay forum, our government members get in frequent arguments that I think net us less interregional goodwill and do not seem to advance any foriegn policy agenda. Do you share my concern? What changes could address this?

Who do you view as our closest allies and how do you plan to advance those friendships?

How will you ease tensions and build a constructive relationship with regions that don't agree with us or naturally align with our interests? Will doing this be a focus of your term?

I'd love to grow our relationships with other GCRs such as The East Pacific and The Pacific. We've recently had a festival with The Pacific, so there's already an established relationship with room for growth there. I'm also optimistic about relations with TEP as well as other non TSP-hostile GCRs, and would certainly look to continue growing and strengthening our bonds with our sister regions through mutual interests and camaraderie.

I think it would certainly help to keep our thread close to the top of Gameplay, though preferably with less drama and more fun. I intend to continue the practice of posting Foreign Affairs statements there, and intend to also post similar posts as to the ones we're currently sending out to our various regional embassies abroad. I'd also love to collaborate with the future MoMA to potentially see major SPSF reports posted to GP, because our military is one of the best out there and is worth showing off.

And one last question, which particular regions (allies or not) do you believe we should most focus on developing our relationships with during the upcoming term?

A couple answers on my current foreign involvements:

1. I'm sure there'll be some individuals who'll cry foul, or conspiracy, or something. However, I have a proven track record in recent years of serving regional interests above personal interests when acting as a member of GCR Government, and am also pretty clearly on record that I believe that a lower-case 'i' independent policy is the best approach for GCR military groups. If issues rise up, I'll deal with them in a diplomatic and professional manner, as I don't believe we should be stooping to the same standards as the Gameplay Peanut Gallery in our actions.

My role in The Grey Wardens is a purely military-oriented one, and I don't anticipate any potential conflicts of interest existing between my military role there and my political role here. It's two different structures, and two distinctly different sets of responsibilities that occupy different times of the day.

2. Regarding Spiritus, I see even less conflict of interest problems there. Spiritus is a pretty regionalist community whose primarily cosmopolitan overlaps are actually TSPers who showed up in Spiritus ages ago (Escade, Farengeto, Feirmont, Sam111, all there for 2+ years) due to our long-standing friendship.

I don't anticipate showing bias towards Spiritus in Foreign Affairs, outside of the bias that we'd show an ally rather than a non-ally. However, to ensure that there will be no overlap, I intend to keep regular communication with the rest of the Cabinet about my prospective calendar of FA events. The Cabinet's there to support each other, and I would look to them for necessary oversight and warnings on any potential shows of bias. If something does arise, I'll recuse myself from the matter and have one of the MoFA Team take over in the situation.

3. I definitely would like to maintain all our current alliances, intending to give appropriate attention to each of those regions across multiple avenues of interaction. I think we have a really great group of allies, and it would be a shame to lose any of them.

Beyond that, it definitely made me think more specifically about who I'd want to develop relations with and I really appreciate that. I think a good amount of it is finding regions that seem just as interested in being close with us as we are with them, as mutual enthusiasm paves the way to great friendships. In particular, I'd really like to connect with up-and-coming regions as they grow, as I believe it would serve The South Pacific to be connecting with that up-and-coming "Class of 2017" and "Class of 2018". I think our recent treaties with UDS and CK really exemplify that idea better than words could, with both regions being up and coming regions of less than two years old that have compatible cultures, politics, and military alignments with ours.

Thanks for the question! Should I not be elected, I plan to keep on doing what I've been doing. If Tsunamy still wants me involved in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, I will be more than happy to stay involved there in whatever capacity may be necessary. I also intend to fulfill my promise to write some journalism pieces for TSP RA when I can, and will generally be willing to help them where I can time permitting. Past that, just hanging out, staying involved in the Assembly, and posting Dave Franco gifs.
SB and Vietnam, I'll get to your questions as soon as I can! I'm packing for a weekend trip right now, so only had time to finish up my previous answers, but I'll try to get my replies to you two out tonight.

Thanks for understanding <3
