The South Pacific

As many of you know, I keep track of the WA rankings daily and find it's a great way to keep track of how you are doing in each category over time if you post here regularly. I also keep track of the top 10 and bottom 10 each day, to give these nations extra recognition. There's no shame in a bottom 10 spot, it's often as hard or harder to achieve as a top 10 spot.

I also award a daily MVP award to the nation in the top/bottom 10 who has improved (or "improved") the most. Will be more relevant the second time a category is ranked, until then it will be awarded to the #1 nation.

The Most Subsidized Industry in the South Pacific

Nations ranked highly devote relatively large amounts of public money to subsidizing business, a practice known as 'corporate welfare.'

I thought with such a large lead in the region and being ranked in the top 60 nations in the world I might be reasonably close to the worldwide top 10. It was pretty depressing to find out that my score was less than half the score of the nation in 10th. Got a long way to go, even in one of my best categories to manage a worldwide top 10. Maybe in 10 years time.

Jagilki is ranked 272nd in the South Pacific and 14,441st in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 37 on the Gilded Widget Scale.

Farengeto is ranked 49th in the South Pacific and 3,249th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 121 on the Gilded Widget Scale.

Likewise I'm only half the top 10 score.

The Third Imperium is ranked 227th in the South Pacific and 12,555th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 42 on the Gilded Widget Scale.

The Agnostic Collective is ranked 28th in the South Pacific and 2,194th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 165 on the Gilded Widget Scale.

As a region, the South Pacific is ranked 5,541st in the world for Most Subsidized Industry. UP 1,021.

Checked the 49 nations ranked ahead of me, 48 have populations over 10 billion, the other has around 9.5 billion. With under 7.7 billion for me, a top 50 isn't too bad - beating all newer nations at least.

Thought this category wasn't affected by refactoring much, as I only got a very small boost then (around +20). Looking at the change in rankings (including Lakarian moving from 3rd to 3rd last), I was wrong.

Gimmal is ranked 144th in the South Pacific and 8,985th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 90 on the Gilded Widget Scale.

Gimmal is now ranked in the Top 5% of the region and the Top 10% of the world for Most Subsidized Industry.
