RT for RA

It has been awhile since I’ve done much with the Ministry of Regional Affairs outside of participation in events and RP. And I was going to run (again) for PM, but when I heard Nakari was running, I switched gears to somewhere I feel that I could be better utilized.

While the summer lull is in full effect, RP is extremely active. Beepee and Amerion were and are producing a great magazine. The Bee has done some great welcoming work, along with organizing dispatches. There has been activity within RA. I’m here to expand on that.

My goals are pretty straightforward: Create more activity.

Games
I’d like to host some TSP Regional games. We used to have a “game night” a few (read “many) years ago. Chess/Checkers, poker, etc. It used to be tons of fun, especially when a bunch of people showed up. I would like to get another “game night” set up, and would love to get some feedback on what games we’d like to play and where. It’s always a great time, and it’s just another way to get to know the people who we spend too much time with already!

Movie Night
Whether through skype or some other platform, I would like to try to get a movie night going. Keeping it PG won’t be hard. Getting people to come sit and watch a movie may be the difficult part Tounge  Light and fun would be the name of the game here.

Dialing up a “Welcoming Committee”
We’re pretty good with welcoming new peeps on Discord, as we tend to gravitate to that for better interaction. But on the forums, we haven’t really done a great job. It’s something that I feel I could do a better job at, and it’s something we as a region could do a better job. Welcoming newer people helps grow the next generation, and we should nurture them and help them acclimate and grow.

Rollplay
I’m always down for some good RP. I’ve been getting more active in our canon myself, and I’ve watched it grow from the concept to fruition, and all its ups and downs over the years. I’d love to see TSP promote our rollplay more, since its not exactly something we’re known for, but it’s sometimes our greatest activity.

Last, but absolutely not least - and I know this question will come up eventually, so I’m going to nip it in the bud here - I will not be resigning from my Associate Justice position within the Court. The laws are written that AJs are not firewalled, and I will continue to serve as Associate Justice as I am needed. You have my word that I can understand what can and will constitute a conflict of interest, and will recuse myself if I feel I can be anything less than 110% impartial.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to serve you well as Minister of  Regional Affairs. Please ask any questions you may have.
Considering that much of TSP's gameside community are not part of the forums nor are they in the Discord (well, I don't really know), how are you going to organize Game Nights and Movie Nights?
Thank you for running Rebeltopia Smile

Here are four generic questions to better get to know your candidacy:

(1) Do you believe the portfolio of regional affairs is too all-encompassing and would you support splitting it?

(2) Irrespective of the previous question, the MoRA is expected to manage multiple projects at any given time — what experiences and skills do you bring to the table in this regard?

(3) Can you provide further details on how exactly you will work towards greater participation of the gameside community in regional activities?

(4) How would you characterise your involvement in the ministry over the last four months?

Games and movies will probably be on 3rd party sites (not on NS/discord/forums), but will be broadcast through those mediums. A friendly telegram, discord ping, and/or forum post will be made to get the word out.

(1) I think its much bigger than it used to be... and it was a huge ministry back then. I'd support it being broken into 2 sections if it made sense to TSP. My biggest issue is that, as far as I've seen, any proposals havent made much sense.

(2) Im pretty good at the balancing act - I balance TSP and work pretty damn well Tounge
Honestly, though, Regional Affairs is such a big umbrella, its tough for anyone to focus heavily on everything. The ministry has a good core group that each focuses on their piece of the cake (pie is a lie), and the minister can focus on the large picture while helping with where they want each part of the ministry to go.
My plan is to come in, see which sections of the ministry needs the most help, and focus on them for a while. Then, more on to the next. At a high level, helping each section of the ministry with ideas and logistics of seeing those ideas into fruition. So, to tl;dr your question, Im not going to try to manage everything, Im going to rely on those already here while I oversee my own projects.

(3) My plan is to uses the "game night"s and such to help bridge the gap between gamesiders and forumites. It'll be a place where chatting will be encouraged, and hopefully, we can kidnap them and bring them to the forums encourage GSers participation in regional government, and us forumites to head gameside and chat on the RMB.

(4) As I said in my campaign, I havent really spent much time in the ministry officially at all - I did have some personal issues with a long-time MoRA which kept me from officially participating IN the ministry over the years. With that said, I have participated in most of the festivals over the years, in the past have written for our newspapers, and I've been involved heavily, both past and present, with the rollplay community.

Given your answer, I assume you will be retaining the Advisory Council component of the ministry. How will you best utilise this group of individuals? It may be fair to say that past administrations have encountered issues with managing this relatively large cohort of individuals.

Will you force forumsiders to go on the RMB? Omg

huge vats of tar and hundreds of pounds of feathers
Im not exactly sure. RA is a huge hodgepodge of areas, and where each one could fall into a "category" could get tough... the lines get a bit blurry between some of the RA stuff and LC/gameside stuff, but the LC is elected by GS peeps... And WA could fall under gameside, but not under LC, really... Then theres integration which could be seen as a GS issue, but also a forum/offsite issue...
To me, theres too many variables to be able to flesh it out by myself. My thoughts are that if it makes sense for the RA/new minister, and also the region, then its right. Its something thats really "dont know tail ya see it" kinda deal.

Like I said above (below?), I'm not currently in the ministry to see its strengths and weaknesses. And that could be a good thing. I'll be a fresh pair of eyes to massage the ministry a little to get it performing as well as such a conglomerate can.

"Force" is such a strong word... Tounge I'd prefer enslave gentle push. We have to show them that they matter, so hopefully they come see that the forumside matters, too.

lol Youre not the only one. Ill just leave it at "this person had served in RA for many years until recent-ish-ly, and had a hand in every little pot." We... didnt get along. So I'd just steer clear of them.

Huh

Is this individual no longer involved in TSP or am I to understand that there is tension in the HC? Omg
This campaign is not about the person who is no longer in TSP MoRA. This campaign is about your next Minister, and Id be happy to answer any questions relating to Regional Affairs.
