A Stronger The South Pacific

Nominations for me to run for this position have come many times, and every time I’ve declined, usually running for another position in the Cabinet where I thought I would better serve this region. It may surprise some of you, and it may be something others of you had been thinking was going to happen for many terms now. I, Rebeltopia, will run for World Assembly Delegate of The South Pacific, with Arbiter08 as my Vice Delegate.

Here is my service record.

Chair of Assembly
12/13 - 03/14
As Chair, I ran on a platform of keeping the Assembly busy and on track. The last three months have been the most active I can ever remember. We’ve passed both big and small changes to our Charter and Code of Laws. We’ve added to the New Southern Army’s General Corps and to the Committee of State Security. We discussed and passed the Judiciary reform that was started almost six months ago.

Vice Delegate
08/13 - 12/13
Belschaft and I ran on a huge platform. We outlined just about every way we thought we could improve this region. Some of our ideas we finished before the end of the term. Many we started discussions on, but they had not come to fruition - either at all, or until this term. Our major battle was Judicial reform, and that was finally passed about a week ago.

Minister of Security
09/12 - 12/12
I only had one term as MoS, and it wasn’t one of my most active terms. I tried to run with what Sheepa had started, and had little help with missions. From this, the idea of the General Corps was born, which would steady the army with three people to help keep the Army moving if the MoS/MoA has RL issues.

Minister of Foreign Affairs
05/12 - 09/12
I won a special election to finish out a partial term, then ran and won another 2 terms. My biggest accomplishment was the treaty between TSP and Europeia. I worked with Sopo, Euro’s foreign affairs liaison, to hammer out the wordings, and getting it passed in TSP. I also started preliminary talks between the two regions for a cultural event, which took place after my time as MoFA.

From these positions, I have learned how TSP conducts its Cabinet, and how much those who run for Cabinet positions really do care for TSP. Each Cabinet position has its own agenda, and their own way to go about reaching their goals. That is why I don’t have a long campaign. A lot of you know where I stand on the big ticket items, and, if you do not, please feel free to ask.

The South Pacific is in a rough spot. Forum move. Unilateral admin actions. Infighting. DRAMA. Its unhealthy for this region. We need to pull ourselves together and get out of this rut. That will never happen unless we… TOGETHER… stop the petty drama and act like adults. I’m not saying we can’t argue our points, just that we need to stop with the slander and incivility. Most everyone here wants what they think is best for TSP. We need to learn to respect that. If we continue down this path, we will see less growth - activity and influx of new citizens - and the government will grow stagnant.

I would like to see less fighting and more compromise. We can do this together. It will take every citizen in this region, raising their standards above all the petty stuff I’ve mentioned above. We can strengthen this region; governmentally and militarily.

We had a strong term militarily with Southern Bellz as MoA, and Geomania and Hileville as Generals. We had a very active Assembly. We had a Delegate who, in her first term as Delegate, faced constant adversity. She had a fairly successful term. We have new activity in role play. Foreign Affairs has new policy in place to help with the overload of work drafting and dispersing updates. Most of all, we have new forums, and a flurry of activity to make them feel like home. There is a lot of good that has come from the last four months. We need to continue with this, and expand upon it.

Arbiter and I will do our best to make this region strong again. That is our goal. With the help of the Assembly and the Cabinet, we hope to move this region from what could be one of the darkest hours shes ever seen, to a bright and shiny new tomorrow.

Thank you for your consideration and any and all questions.

Here is Arbiter’s service record:

Deputy Minister of Regional Affairs
12/13 - 3/14
Awe appointed me as Deputy MoRA for the Communications and Integration Agency (CIA). Shortly after appointing me Awe fell inactive, leaving me to run the ministry. During this time I helped start the “Still Under Attack” role-play, and managed it as well as I could without any moderation powers in Role-Play Central. I also posted quite a bit of Resident Spotlights.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
1/14 - 2/14
I was appointed to this position shortly after the MoFA special elections in January. I will admit, I am not particularly happy with how I treated that position. I was still a Deputy MoRA, and used that as an excuse not to do any work in MoFa. I am not looking to have another position that I treat like this again.

Minister of Regional Affairs
3/14 - 3/14
Awe resigned on the first of March, allowing the cabinet to appoint somebody instead of holding special elections. The cabinet appointed me to be the new Minister of Regional Affairs. Shortly after I appointed Ryccia and CrimsonTideFan to be my deputies. Not a whole lot of work came out of the ministry at this time, this is mainly due to the fact that I was trying to get my new deputies situated. I was also helping Crimson with a couple of ideas he had.

Arbiter and I would personally like to thank Kris, Tsunamy, and Sandaoguo, and whoever else had a hand behind the scenes for making the transition to the new forums as seamless as was possible in the limits of the situation. To you, we give our utmost thanks.
Apart from the experience that both of you have accumulated through your service in the governance of the region, what would you say would set you and your running mate apart from the other candidates vying for the same position?

Also, what would you and your running mate do to promote the ideal of togetherness that you have proposed in your campaign? Apart from promoting such an ideal, is there anything else that you'd hope to achieve this term with your Cabinet?
What do you see as the greatest weakness of this region abroad, especially in its fellow GCRs?
Try to convice me. If you win, what will be your first act as Delegate?

Time zones? Hundreds (and in Kris' instance, thousands) of miles? Tounge
Seriously, though. What I think sets us apart from the Kringlia/Escade team is they have really only worked together in their Cabinet rolls, while Arbiter and I have worked in separate offices. Arbiter has worked in both the Regional and Foreign Affairs offices, while I have worked as Vice Delegate and Chair of the Assembly. I asked Arbiter to be my VD for that reason. We have overseen (or helped oversee) most of the ministries over the last few terms. I think thats our greatest asset.

There are many things I hope to promote throughout the next 4 months. I would like to see our FA offices prosper under the system that our current MoFA has proposed. I would also like to see an actively recruiting MoA. Its said again and again, but the truth stands: an active military will draw interest, and continue to make TSP an active region. I would like to see an active MoRA. Regional Affairs is something that has really picked up over the last 4-6 months.

We will all have to work together to make these things happen. The MoRA can help the MoA recruit. The MoFA has to help the MoA build strong relationships with other active military across NationStates. Just because one person in in charge of a Ministry, that doesn't mean its shouldn't be a team effort.

First, its good to see you back in TSP, GodEmperor. Smile
Second, too your question. Our greatest weakness is our lack of a steady Foreign Affairs system. Sandaoguo has proposed a new system last month, that should streamline the communications between TSP and all our embassies. We don't need to muddle, but I think we need to be more proactive in Foreign Affairs, and I think Sandaoguo has proposed a good system to get that moving forward.

Throw a party in the Delegates office.
My first act will be to telegram the region, saying I'm the newly elected Delegate, and I'll be serving you for at least the next four months. Maybe throw in a bit of the new cabinet, and what the basic plan is for this term. Smile
If you can make one specific change during your term what would it be? And how would it be accomplished?
What has been your greatest failure as Chair of the Assembly?

I'd like to see less drama - yelling, arguing, name calling - and more debating, discussing and compromise. I'd hope that I'd lead by example, and show how to act/carry ones self.
We need to show new nations we don't always throw temper tantrums when something doesn't go our way. Show that TSP is a great region to get involved in, and that we have respect for others, even if we don't necessarily like them or their way of thinking.
Do you agree with Kris that new nations not being encouraged to get involved is a major issue here?

I think its been a problem in TSP for a long while. We've never really been ones to go hardcore on the "recruiting". We did have some activity here about a year ago, but I think it got too tedious for the few people doing all the work.
