Resignation from the Vice Delegacy
#1
Rainbow
Dear TSPers,

This is my official resignation as vice delegate of the South Pacific.

When I first joined NationStates, I had some sad stuff happen in real life. NS was an escape (hence my name) and a place where I felt I could contribute in some positive way.

Since I’ve entered the political arena my optimism has taken some hits and I don’t think I can fulfill the duties of vice-delegate in the way that an awesome person like Kris and the rest of the region deserves.

It’s been an interesting year and one month. I started in this region April of 2013 and I’m officially an “old” NSer. My focus since the beginning was regional affairs, and creating a sense of community.

Last term, I was planning to run again for minister of regional affairs when I was encouraged by some very cool people to run for the delegacy.

When I co-wrote the campaign statement for “Friendship and Cooperation,” I was building off of having worked with the NS World Fair. I loved the interplay and camaraderie between so many NSers coming together in a friendly and cooperative manner.

I’ve seen this happen again in the inter-regional games so I know it’s possible and so hope lives on like a candle in the dark.

The beginning of my delegacy was marred by false accusations made by an unknown puppet nation and lack of proof or evidence or any sort of closure on why an innocent person’s name could be dragged through the mud. It still stuns me that an individual’s rights and reputation can be so thoroughly trashed without any consequences for the people who lead witch hunts.

From that day forward I have dealt with constant bullying from Belschaft. Constant and unabating and whenever I tried to bring it up, people said his toxic behavior was normal for politics. And now I’ve come full circle. I’m volleying back. Either I can partake in that kind of nasty behavior or I can leave before I become a kind of person I have no interest in being.

I’m very proud of all the things that I did accomplish during my tenure as minister of regional affairs and during my delegacy. The problems that I see with the region are the same that I’ve been posting about, on the RMB or on the old forums or the current forums. As you know I’ m pretty good about stating what I think.

If nothing else I’m dedicated to ideals for the region but there’s a saying you can’t work for the people, you have to work with them. And too many people in TSP are okay with the status quo, or avoiding conflict at all costs or just don’t speak up. It breaks my heart for many reasons.

As long as people like Belschaft keep getting elected, hold power and keep trying to bully, legally and otherwise, people who have new or different ideas then the region will be stagnant and encourage inactivity and concentration of power in the same few hands.

It’s come to the point where I no longer enjoy being a part of a region where common sense is superseded by political power plays. Power in itself holds no value unless it’s being used to improve things for the majority rather than the one holding it.

The South Pacific faces a struggle. Does it grow into something more viable, true to the spirit of democracy? Or does it loiter in the shadows of toxicity?

As always my best wishes, my hugs, my sparkly silliness is available for people in the region via IRC or private communication.

There are a couple of people I will always love for big and small things. To all the people who’ve been beautiful souls - I’m glad to have met you and gotten to know you Smile

Best of luck always,
Escade

Escade, you have been a breath of fresh air. I am glad we will keep in touch. Peace be with you!

All the best Escade. I appreciate all you have done for the region - I think there have been many positive changes that you have brought about, which everyone should be grateful for.

I was going to post stuff about some of the issues you brought up, but not sure this is the best place for it. I do understand where you are coming from though, some people here do seem a bit resistant to change, and you won't change that, no matter how hard you try.

I'm really sad to see you go Escade. You were one of the best, if not the best, delegate/s we've ever had. Are you at least going to hand around in TSP, or will you quit NS?

Thank you all your work Escade, I do hope you'll reconsider entering a leadership role in TSP again in the future.
