I don't think it is at all, as I am understanding your statement anyway.

It is a cyclical system based on the tolerance of our minds to deal with constant sensory bombardment and emotive manipulation. I don't think it was done deliberately, but evolved as a result of consumer reactions to ongoing stimulus. Seeing as we can't stop buying the crap we're told to, it at least gives us a mental breather to check out what we've bought. Further influences could have been the fuller social strata that marketing reaches via homogeneous technologies, capitalist identification and exploitation of the general trend, greater generational brand identification and no doubt heaps of other crap I can't think of or hasn't occurred to me.

Economy: Efficiently and Conservatively orient the materials for Production and Distribution of life supporting goods.

and just a heads up I am getting most of the material for these statements from Zeitgeist: Moving Forward.

As to what wetwork had to say. I think you are correct in your statement except for one thing that you think it was not done deliberately. I think that the people that implemented the money system knew exactly where it would lead too one day. The sad part is that in order for us to change the way things are today, we, as a society would need to come to grips with a "new" way of viewing normal.

I think you're givin' people hundreds of years ago way too much credit for their foresight.

I'd agree with that. I don't think it was perceived so specifically, although the instigators may well have seen which direction they could move our malleable minds.

This is somewhat/part of my point. I am also trying to touch on the fact that we live in a disposal world in which if we really tried, or at the very least, woke up to this maybe we can change things for future generations.

This is one of my greatest disappointments in the WA/SC. That we were given a virtual world to play in and we've simply legislated it into bureaucratic obsolescence, rather like the real world where we've failed so utterly. But expounding on that belongs in another thread
