Former Delegate of the South Pacific
Posts outside High Court venues should be taken as those of any other legislator.
I do not participate in the regional server, but I am happy to talk through instant messaging or on the forum.

With very very very few expections, we allow every single nation to join these forums and be apart of the process that sets the rules and law for this region. There could be 100% enfranchisement within this region if every nation wanted it. Some of them don't know about this opportunity (this is the problem we can actually address) while some simply don't want to apart of the Assembly, which is fully their right, but they forfeit the right to complain.

As Chairman I want to create opportunities for dialogue on the Regional Message Board that will bring in nations who are simply unaware of this place. My idea is to have a discussion around a topic that is relevant to non-forum nations, and allow them an open fora to express their views. This will help us make better policy, and also attract members to our forum where they can have a say in our laws and government.

I hope this answered your question.

Thanks for that HEM. At the risk of belaboring the point: Would you be supportive of giving RMB-active nations some sort of binding legislative vote? Or is that something that should be reserved for the forum community?

I would not inherently opposed to the idea, though I also would not inherently be for it either.

I want to start with my experiment, and see how that goes. If we see a large segment of the population that is educated and informed -- but simply is adverse to the forum -- we might consider giving non-citizen nations a voice on specific issues that directly apply to them. I think such a step would be far into the future, however, and we have to walk before we run on this issue.

2. What is your view on the powers and limits of the chair and in what way do you plan on using or not using those powers?

1. I am unique in that I am a perpetual innovator. I like trying new ideas and experimenting with good systems to make them better. I don't run for a position unless I want to take it in "my own direction" and really work for the region. This means I'm going to make mistakes. I'm going to have some ideas that are bad ones. Put through a process of experimentation and innovation I think we will see some really cool stuff come out of the Assembly in the next few months. Bringing the Assembly to the NS site is just one policy initiative I have that I think could yield some really amazing results

2. Legislatures work best when there is a Chair (or Speaker) with broad regulatory powers. I would like to see a Chair with extensive authority to regulate the flow of discussion and legislation in the Assembly.

That being said, there is a large caveat. I also believe that the Assembly must retain a simple-majority "veto" power to appeal any decision by the Chair. This ensures the Assembly is moving efficiently, but also that a rouge Chair cannot take unpopular action without being held accountable.

Thank you for your questions!

With all my talk of uncomfortable chairs aside, I think I would use this one:

As to why I didn't include it in my original post? Idk, I'm a maverick I guess Angel

HEM -- since, if elected, you'll become a member of the parole board -- can you discuss how you would approach parole?

I would reform the parole board so that the Chair of the Assembly isn't on the parole board anymore. It make absolutely no sense.

I will be asking the same question to all candidates, and I would appreciate an honest answer. Anyone that bluffs this question off by trying to be polite will not be getting my vote.

What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of each of your opposition candidate campaign?

Thanks

The strength of Unibot's campaign is that he is the incumbent, and he is an effective one at that. Unibot has a strong record to run on because the trains have run on time during his tenure as Chair. I also think that Unibot's "record of votes" is a stupendous initiative, and is just kinda cool to look through.

I think his biggest weakness is also in his incumbency, however. Unibot has served a few months in this post and will have to find the energy to keep running a dynamic and organic body. Being Chair requires a high level of activity to do a mediocre job, and a true passion and energy to do well. I would be concerned about anyone returning for a second term being capable of a stupendous job, especially when there are so many issues currently being discussed that will require assembly action.

Unibot also tends to get heated and passionate about issues, but so do I, so I feel like there isn't much of a distinction  to draw there Angel

I hope that answered your question. I don't think my answers were as long as Unibot's, but I thought they were more or less complete. Please feel free to ask follow-ups.
