A Question and Answer Campaign - (Professor)Henn - Minister of the Army
#21

I will preface my questions with the caveat that I'm still trying to get my head around the whole military in the TSP concept so if these are silly questions please forgive me! That being said my questions would be what do you think are the biggest obstacles to rebuilding the numbers in the SPSF? And how would you solve them?

Well, yes, but just because someone somewhere opposes something we do doesn't mean we shouldn't do it. At least if we do everything we offend everyone equally.

If it is not related to my campaign, keep it off the thread. I don't want to have a notification on my phone at 3 a.m. only to find out it's God knows who replying to something kris or sopo or Unibot made, and not actually a question to me.

Not a stupid question.

The biggest obstacle is the activity and numbers. That is no secret, and it's what has been the most argued topic during the Great Council.

The challenge is finding a good way to solve them, and I can assure you, simply expecting new recruits to show up has not, and will not ever work. (I am guilty of this, so let's put it behind us.) Darkstrait has proven to be an at least capable recruiter, as Corporal Clegg is proof of. (He and I were involved in a mission, but details are being withheld indefinitely. )

I hope this answers your question.

Henn, seeing how you and QD recently threw a hissy fit and resigned from the SPSF when the GC simply began discussing reforms; what assurances can you give the voters that you wont resign if the SPSF is reformed in a way you dont like?

I never resigned anything in TSP.

If the SPSF is reformed in a way I don't like, I'll still stick around, unless the change is completely unbearable. It depends on the change.

In your ideal world, how would you want the SPSF to be structured and functioning by the end of your term?

Except we often do get backslash, are our different diplomatic crises and Assembly debates have shown.

My only comment for this thread:

As Minister of Foreign Affairs, I recognise that the Minister of the Army and their staff have control of the Military. To that effect as leading diplomat I will do whatever is necessary to facilitate stronger connections, more opportunities and new relationships, which includes handling whatever diplomatic crises come up, to which there have been none.

There have been storms in a tea-cup from people who have elected to choose a side in gameplay, there has been unreasonable behaviour and attacks on people who choose to play another style.

If an actual diplomatic event comes up because of raiding, where a foreign region attempts to demand TSP set its policy to a certain kind because "we're allies brah", said region will get a swift kick up the rear and told to grow up - regardless of who it is. Much the same will happen if an ally complains about defending.

I do not care about the itty gritty bits of military policy, whether we raid or defend is of no concern to me. Being a cabinet minister for an independent region with an active, bipartisan military force means you need to be prepared to support your region's institutions. As Minister of Foreign Affairs that is part of the job and something I freely accepted despite being gameplay-apathetic when I sought election.

"I do not agree with what you do, but I'll defend to the death your right to do it." - a slightly amended quote from Voltaire.
