Absentee Voting |
God-Emperor brought up the idea of "Absentee Voting" - which would allow citizens to vote in the Assembly and in Elections, despite not being able to join the forums.
I think it'd be fairly easy to implement - just involves someone sending telegrams to the Chair.
I dont see how that could be official. In all cases, banning removes citizenship. I dont really see a need for this. Unjust banning is taken up with the judiciary, and, until proven guilty, should be able to vote.

Well...that's not so clear. Being banned from the forum should be included as one of the reasons for losing citizenship.

We already have several case like Liberatia where they were banned from the forums but not the game. But since "citizenship" is a forum thing and you have to be a "citizen" to vote, your trying to apply something that has no purpose bit to be there. You have to be in the forums to be a citizen.
The question is, beyond what happens in practice, do forum bans legally remove citizenship? I don't think they do, and that is something we should clarify.

It would be possible to create a special masking that allows people to access only the voting areas of the forums, but be "banned" from the rest of the forums.
Bans do not remove one's citizenship. The administrative and political streams are separate. That's a product of trying to maintain total separation constitutionally. The Constitution doesn't recognize these bans - most of them would be a violation of our Bill of Rights.
The actual process of removing someone's citizenship is a fairly drawn out legislative process (and for good reason).
That seems rather pointless. People banned from these forums by the admin team usually did something to deserve it; we're generally talking about porn spammers, people who tried to register as a citizen on multiple 'fake' accounts, etc.

Associate Justice of the High Court and Senior Moderator Quote:Unjust banning is taken up with the judiciary, Unjust banning is -not- taken up with the judiciary. The Administration claims (or at least always did claim) to be above our constitution. Which means they can violate any part of our BoR. The judiciary cannot respond. |
