[Discussion] Electoral Fraud Operation "Brave Little Toaster" and CSS Involvement
#101

Defamation. For future reference, please think about what you post and make it clear who your post is directed at to avoid unnecessary confusion and general sh*tstorms.

Oh Jesus people give it a break.

This is a silly argument you guys are having, moaning at this person, getting angry, tell others not to this or that, threating to file charges, being arrogant and having a good old bitch about each other.

This isn't getting anywhere, all its doing is making everyone angry and grumpy. Just forget about this and move on and by that I mean continue this in Court.

Excuse me? I suggest you enlighten yourself on exactly who you are speaking to before I file charges of my own.

What charges will they be? Exercising my right to free speech?

Seeing as you are accusing me of betraying the South Pacific (Treason), as well as lying to the region, and are also accusing me of double standards we can look at Defamation.

I tried to settle this thread down before it turned into a raging lynch mob, but if you want to take a crack at the Minister for Foreign Affairs make sure you're wearing absorbent linens little one, because I do not take people insulting me, my credibility or my reputation lightly.

Tell me where I have lied to The South Pacific. Tell me where I have betrayed The South Pacific. Tell me where I have endorsed the Double Standards you accuse me of.

Have I dismissed the opinions of a certain few members of this Assembly who are attacking like a rabid dog? Yes. They are attacking mindlessly without direction.

I refer you to my campaign for Minister of Foreign Affairs in the November General Election: http://thesouthpacific.x10.mx/thread-1270.html

I refer you to my Conflict of Interest Disclosure: http://thesouthpacific.x10.mx/thread-1253.html - WHICH plus two minor additions is current: I am now a general advisor to the Pharaoh of the Osiris Fraternal Order and have returned to Osiris as a citizen to facilitate a peaceful climate for the region.

It appears as though you mis-read my original post. I did not accuse you of betraying the region, rather I just said that you were defending someone who did and to me that looks as though you don't have a problem with lying and betraying, which as you pointed out is treason. Once again I'd just like to say that I did not accuse you of lying or betraying to anyone and I apologise to you if you mistook my post for saying that.

Very well.

My role as a member of cabinet is focused on diplomacy. To that extent, I have done whatever possible to try and keep this contentious topic as civil as possible. The South Pacific has always prided itself on its diplomatic prowess and credibility, so these particular arguments damage such credibility. I have been speaking with both parties involved in this, as well as other members of the cabinet extensively on ways to keep these threads civil and polite for all involved.

My apologies if you were startled by the nature of my reply. I have spent a long time working on my reputation across the feeders and sinkers, and do not respond well to allegations that I have broken any of my commitments.

I want to clarify that I am not pursuing a Bill of Attainder (as was explained to me by several helpful people on IRC).  I based that discussion off of the precedent set by a previous administration in regards to Nathan which has been clarified as having been illegal and overturned in that Nathan was allowed to return. Since I wasn't here for some time I wasn't privy to this information.

Right now, I am, as stated previously pursuing a trial.  I have an appointed lawyer (Jal) and legal counsel.  I have some questions for the court which I will need answers on as unfortunately some of the information about procedures and policies is unclear to me and the extent of my experience with court cases is TV shows and such.  That's why I appreciate all the legal advice and counsel.

Thank you for understanding and for your patience with me Smile <3

Oh Jesus fucking weeps, it is midnight in the South Pacific. I don't want to stoke the fire seeing as things appear to be calming down, but some of you seriously are coming out of here looking like you are off your rocker.

We have laws in this region, as Kris was so kind to post no less than half a dozen times in this thread. We cannot simply disregard the laws of due process because it strikes our fancy, and while you may think our court system sucks, believe me, the court of public opinion is even worse.

No need to beat a dead horse. This is already being pursued in the courts. Grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy cause this is going to be one hell of a show. A good test of our judicial system too.

I'd like to clarify that the thread is titled "Discussion" and not "Proposals." There's a reason for that.

I also am not in favor of suppressing discussion on issues, regardless of how controversial they may be.

Things I do appreciate:
1. Kris and Raven are a voice of reason.  Also, Raven is still scary.
2. Salaxalans for explaining why there was controversy around this thread and what bill of attinder meant.
3. Everyone on IRC who has been giving legal advice and has a clear and public stance on the issue. My understanding of the laws and court system of TSP is based on when I was delegate and actively here. It seems that some things have changed for the better since then. I certainly hope so.

Unfortunately, GR is right. If the cabinet or people of actual power were pursuing this I wouldn't feel the need to. Perhaps we do need an attorney general for the region. I'm nervous about doing things where I have no experience and I don't want to mess this up for the region. It's an issue that is important to me because of TSP and what it shows about us to our citizens and to the international community.

I do apologize if I have offended anyone and as stated will pursue this matter in the courts. If anyone would like to help me, please let me know since I worry about not being good enough at legal and politics to see justice served.

As for some of the other stuff:

First, Es, you're mistaking a lack of rash action for a lack of action. Just because the government hasn't rushed in doesn't mean discussions aren't taking place. We all have seen what happens when there are rash judgements/actions in the region.

Second, I think having an attorney general would be a ideal position. Granted, while there aren't many issues when it's needed, right now we're relaying on someone to jump into the fray when they might not feel comfortable doing it.
