[Discussion] Electoral Fraud Operation "Brave Little Toaster" and CSS Involvement
#121

You are not asking for an explanation. You are just refusing to believe the explanation I have given you.

We considered criminal charges. We decided the recall and the shame of public opinion were enough. Belschaft had apologized and went into self-imposed exile. The matter was settled. I did consider the complicated relationship he had with you, when discussing this with certain Cabinet members, but that did not influence my personal stance in any major way.

Now comes Belschaft, claiming that no crime was committed, and accusing people who question that claim of defamation. That makes the situation quite different, specially since further cases of reprehensible actions, like his alleged communications with CSS members, were brought to light. Does that affect the position of the Cabinet? Yes, of course it does, because it provides new context that was not previously available. Does that mean our previous decision was misguided? No, because the specific circumstances at the time did not seem to require the pursuance of criminal charges.

You can believe that, since it's a truth, or you can continue refusing to believe it, and say that we should have filed charges. That is entirely up to you. However, you well know that the Cabinet doesn't always have it easy when decisions must be made. Often we have difficult circumstances, and even if decisions have unintended or negative effects, you cannot possible say that they were made with the wrong intentions. We made a call we thought was right, and I am well within my rights to defend it.

As for there are certain things implied in the law or that people are aware, that's a very elitist view unless our laws operate like CSI and even if they did to a T, having a sort of handbook or "Primer to the Functioning of the Laws in TSP" would be helpful to people who aren't as well-informed. We have people from very different backgrounds in the region, what is understood to be implied by one person is not the same as another.

Apad, I know and I was one of the people who believed in giving Milograd a rehabilitation plan.

My issue with Belschaft is that its not the first time he committed such an action and he never shows remorse. Even his feigned apology is now moot and pointless because he denies ever committing the actions that required an apology. Even in that apology he provides a terrible defense of his actions. He committed treason because he suspected, but had no hard evidence in any form (so false nonsense) treason. That doesn't justify it. If you suspect someone of a crime you investigate it (using the CSS and delegate and cabinet who are the people to go to), you don't individually decide to commit the same action, especially involving a whole different region.

Read my first post in this thread, it was a post that asked for something lenient and conciliatory. In response, Belschaft started a defamation lawsuit to charges he already apologized for and basically retracted his apology. Those are not the actions of someone who shows remorse or has shown actual change.

I will believe nothing that Belschaft says because his words are worthless.

I brought up Belschaft's action to the CSS, in the past. Their action was to recall him from the position but since he is in the same situation once more, I don't see any change that should be forgiven.

I see someone who will flaunt their crimes and justify them until taken to a court of law and given a harsh punishment, one that prevents them from such actions in the future.

Kris, then you know why I feel the way I do. It's not as much as an attack on you as shock that given the kindness people show him over and over again and the third, fourth, fifth chances he got - he spit in their faces by this most recent actions.

It is not just a lawsuit for treason that I intend to pursue. It is also a lawsuit against defamation of the CSS.

It's not a small thing to cast aspersions on the CSS and no one should do so without being able to prove with hard evidence what happened. If people make false allegations like that it undermines the very security of the region.

And finally Belschaft's actions weren't simply things he did to me, they are actions he's taken against a number of people and I am one of the few who speak about them publicly. He used intimidation and bullying several times but I've become a stronger person since then.
