Delegate Statement on Belschaft Citizenship Removal
#1

To all in the Great Region of The South Pacific:

I would like to address some things surrounding the recent removal of Belschaft's citizenship.

For a long time, Belschaft was a thoughtful steward of the region. He served in multiple capacities and his service to the region should not be forgotten. However, due to a number of issues that have been building, delaying his removal is no longer possible.

Belschaft has recently attempted to paint the Committee for State Security in a negative light, has recently pushed to get me to abuse my power as delegate and forum administrator to remove committed government servants, and finally has taken to slandering me when I didn't respond to his intimidation.

I want to address Operation Brave Toaster. After the July elections, I was approached by Belschaft about running for delegate. I responded that I would not run against Kringalia, and my subsequent decision to run for office was not made until long after that conversation. Belschaft also suggested finding additional citizens for the region ahead of the next election.

Looking back, I should have alerted the full CSS and Cabinet at the time. However, I was giving Belschaft the benefit of the doubt that he would follow the law. I don't regret seeing the best in people, even if at times it comes back to bite me. To be clear, I had no knowledge of the depth of Operation Brave Toaster and, if I did, I would have certainly alerted the proper officials.

Lately, Belschaft suggested that because he "protected" me during the fallout from his actions, I should help him get back into the government. I ignored such a request. He also suggested I remove Unibot and Sandaoguo from the region because they are making it inhospitable. Again, something I refused to do. Finally, he has taken to suggesting to our government officials that I personally approved Operation Brave Toaster. This ignores the fact that I would have not had the power to do so, nor would I ever undertake such an operation against the region.

I present this information to the region to air any dirty laundry that might be remaining. I want to point out that in the decade-plus I have been involved in the region, I have never and would never support any attempt to undermine our legal system.

The success of the region is my proudest achievement in NationStates. And it's critical for the survival of the region that it is open to all and undermined by none. Our democracy is paramount and shall remain that way.

While the recent action is heartbreaking, it must be done to protect the region. I hope The South Pacific comes out of this stronger, more united and committed to our democratic ideals.

Thanks for sharing, Tsu. This was a difficult decision for all us, but you more than any.

I appreciate the statement.

Does this mean the logs presented are, in fact, legitimate?

100% legitimate. I cut of a bit at the end where me and Tsu talked about some non-pertinent IRL stuff, but that was all.

As I've told anyone who has asked since, we did have the discussion. It was directly after the election and I assumed it was more blowing smoke than setting up forums in TEP to commit voter fraud.

I believe you, Tsu. Thanks for getting out ahead of this.

Thanks Sopo. I appreciate that. It's always difficult when you have to go against someone who has previously done so much good for the region.

I obviously support this statement. Tsu has a long history of upholding democracy and rule of law in this region, and is the least likely person to engage in such illegitimate actions.

We have your back, tsu.

And shockingly it was just blowing off smoke, which is why everything was abandoned and completely forgotten about. You know, because the massive activity on the forum Todd set up showed how this wasn't something long abandoned.

And yet now, months down the line, my citizenship is stripped for some completely facetious bullshit.

And I've still never been charged with any crime.
