February Festival
#61

It's seems we've been getting somewhere with the plan. A brief overview of what we got is the following:
  • Duration: 5 days.
  • Schedule: February 19th to February 22nd.
  • Theme: Begins as a simple celebration, then turns in something more dynamic:
    1. Chinese New Year celebration on the 19th.
    2. Mafia/Political Conspiracy the next days.
  • Activities/Games:
    1. Caption Contest with RP and daily pictures.
    2. Cards Against Humanity
    3. The Resistance
    4. Warlight
    5. Supremacy1914
    6. Spies
    7. Backstabbing
    8. War
  • Regions that may join:
    1. Spiritus
I hope this can be of use by all of us to make of those days a wonderful experience.

PS: It is of major importance to contact whoever needs to be contacted, be it from TSP or other regions, to assure that everybody can participate and knows what's going on with the festival. Also dealing with publicity and stuff in nationstates.

Tbh, I think a lot of the activities posted here have to do with the Conspiracy theme, and I think we should go with that. We don't necessarily have to base it around New Years and we can still use a lot of what Bono put together. Or we can anyway, we're a collection of nations in a collection of regions; I'm sure we can pronounce it New Years somewhere Tounge

One more suggestion from me is that we could have a kind of "Clue" style game, where we have people signup, then someone is "murdered" and we have to figure out who did it. The way that would work is someone is selected as the "wolf", with everyone given specific instructions as to their alibi and everyone else needs to post in the thread asking questions. People can then RP around their chosen backstories in reply. Or something like that Tounge

Let's say it'll be a five day celebration. What we need to decide is the following:
  • What of the list Bono posted above are we going to keep?
  • We need IRC events happening every evening, both in EU and US timezones. These will happen in a shared IRC channel for all those involved (named after the TSP of course). I can run the EU timezone events if you'd like, and would be happy to move Tammy in there as well.
  • We need long running competition style threads for people to participate in. These can either be posted in the TSP (as the bigger region), or shared among the regions competing. The way sharing would work is that each region posts a copy of the competition and takes entries. Then the regions swap entries and post a full list of all participating entries for their region to vote on. The tallies are then calculated across regions and the winner(s) pronounced.
  • We need long running RP style threads, like the Clue idea I had. These will probably be posted individually in each region or posted in the TSP solely, so there's a central place for those participating to participate.

Edit: I've also just noticed the other two Festival threads as well. Anyway, my idea is simply to start getting a plan for the five day festival ironed out, planning day by day so that we know what's happening. Then when we have that, we'll pick new dates a week in advance, and make announcements and noises to that effect. I also suggest a joint opening statement by all heads of regions involved.

I like Wuufu's idea. It won't need of the an exclusive date as was the New Year from the "stage one". Also, it's good you can help with the EU timezone (we still got the American and Asian left tho).

Besides, we still need to write down a list of people responsible to be hosts in what activity/game; with what schedule; and having some substitute as precaution.

As for the scenery of the RP. I was thinking: "Why don't we role-play as our nations' leaders (I have a council of 7 people, but can choose the president of my council) in some sort of international convention or event (like carnival or summer/spring festival)?"

Let's discuss and write down that list!

Yes, as mentioned before; based on what we have, we need to reorganize a new schedule... Determining in what orders and days we are going to have each activity, which ones are meant to last every day of the festival (RP for example), where, and who are going to be in charge (with their substitutes if possible).

By then we can prepare some sort of publicity with the aid of the Communications and Integration Bureau.

Note: Consider that I'm not going to be able to host nor, in some cases, play the games because of my laptop's hardware problems with the internet stability. I might not be able to personally enjoy most of the experience, but that is no excuse for me not to help you with the general management so everybody else can have a wonderful time.

I can be available after 4pm EST weekdays, and I can make myself available anytime Weekends (Most of the time, for the weekends I won't know until Thursday of that week, then I'm usually unavailable in the mornings).

I am available generally in the weekends and, at the end of school, weekdays. But I won't be able to host anything, unless if it is forum topics.

And I guess... we failed. Tomorrow's the last day of February. Unless we name it March Festival.

When are we planning to do this? Since the elections are over on the 25th of March, maybe the Festival should start on the 26th?

If so, we should have a final plan done by the 23rd.
Here's the plan I propose:

By the 19th of March, we should have:
  • A theme
  • An idea for a venue
  • The basic idea on how we'll proceed (ex: If it's a sports festival, are we giving out awards? Do we have teams? Etc.)
  • Length of the festival

By the 21st of March, we should have:
  • A list of finalized activities
  • A list of participating Hosts with their respective schedules

By the 23rd of March, we should have:
  • A Final schedule of activities
  • Staff matched up to each activity
  • Promotional Schedule

This way, we can have a solid three days of promotions and some leeway if somebody has an emergency or can't host.

Wuufu, if you can also pass along this post to Spiritus; I believe we can get this moving.

I believe this is an achievable goal; but I would love any comments on this. I realize we already have lists of things, but I'm looking for a final say on each point of the lists.
