Artillery Battery near the Siari Mountains
"Sir, several aircraft are approaching!"
"Shoot them down!"
"What if they're ours?"
"Then they'd hail us on the radio! Shoot them down!"
The corporal ran to the anti-air missile launcher. He sat down in the turret, took careful aim, locked onto the lead aircraft, and fired. The plane exploded in a ball of fire and two more missiles dispatched the other aircraft.
Communist Fleet
The communist fleet had not been in dock when the communists and wolframists fell out. They had escaped the disaster that had befallen the communist armies, which were even now being destroyed or captured. Only a few hundred men had managed to put to the sea and find the fleet, including the leaders.
Now the communist fleet was fleeing. To where exactly, they did not know. They had some vague notions about the Communist Bloc, but that was all. They were about a week away from Darkstrait and feeling more and more confident with each day.
Until they were forced to admit the supply problems. The only option they had was to raid the collapsing United Communist Solar Republic. But when their ships appeared on the horizon, Darkstraitese relief troops radioed the news to Skotino Steno, and a few bomber squadrons were scrounged up.
The ships had no defense against bombers. All they could do was sit, take the damage, and try their best to blow the planes out of the air with heavy artillery. Half the ships were sinking within half an hour, and when a Darkstraitese destroyer arrived and demanded that they surrender, they were happy to oblige. All of the communist leaders were caught and imprisoned.
Wolframist Command Center
In the past week, wolframists had given ground all around the country. Now many of them had retreated to the base in the Siari Mountains, where Elf Tantalus and the other generals planned their final grand hurrah.
"We'll pin them down here," said General Osmos. "We'll offer little resistance as they move into this valley, then our machine gun nests and tanks will stop the advance. Our tanks will begin to push forward, and they'll try to retreat. But then we'll bomb the pass here and have them trapped. Then we'll retreat into the tunnels, drop the bomb, and send our message to Octavo Square demanding their surrender."
"I still do not believe it necessary to drop the bomb," said Rhen Wolfram sternly. "The threat of its use will be enough."
"It's the only way we can be assured that they will give up," said Elf.
"If we drop the bomb, we risk their repercussions!" Rhen screamed. "You idiots! If we bomb them, they will respond in like."
Elf made a dismissive gesture. "They haven't got hydrogen bombs. Our tunnels run deep. End of discussion."
Rhen's face was as red as a tomato. "Ryccia does! Bruuma probably does! What the hell is your point?"
Elf sighed. "Dearest Leader, you may want to consider keeping up with international politics. The government has forbidden the use of nuclear weapons by other countries within their territory."
"Fine!" screamed Rhen. "Since I seem to have no more than the power of an ant in my own war council, I will retire to my quarters!"
Once in his room, Rhen took a deep breath. The decision he was about to make would change the fate of the war.
He sat down at his computer and accessed from the wolframist computer network the recording of the argument he had just had. He downloaded it to his computer and pasted the file into a new email. He then typed into the email the following:
Archchancellor Ridcully,
I am writing in an attempt to clear my name and avoid bloodshed. My advisers have essentially taken control of the Tung Sten and are making choices I find highly unwise. (Please listen to the below recordings for proof.)
In addition, the recordings contain the battle plans that our forces plan to use. I am enclosing this part because I want to make a deal: I give you the plans and a major victory, and you indict me with nothing more than second-degree treason. After the battle is won, I will be willing to discuss terms of surrender, as there is no reasonable way we can win this war.
Rhen Wolfram
He sent it. He knew that the Rhenguard secretly had access to all computers within the network, but he had told Commander Zircon that his messages were private.
Meanwhile, he'd have to see if Corporal Manganus had found anything interesting on Elf...

Wolframist-taken Stronghold named Fort Lily
After the stronghold attack and wolframist retreat, the Ryccian Military took the fort without anyone knowing. Since then, other troops, using the same tactic as before, have ambushed other wolframist positions, taking them silently. The military had now taken every part of the southern Northern Island coast, and they moved further north. Everyone had thought that the communists attacked them every time, and somehow the positions exploded, becoming unusable. Many attacks succeded, others failed. The wolframists always questioned these kinds of attacks in a rapid succesion, and how the communists always beat them so easily, but for now, they didn't expect Ryccia to be the cause of those attacks.
"Alright, we got the fort, and our forces are expanding further north. We are preparing an attack on their HQ in Southern Island, so we'll do our best to squish the Wolframist HQ"
"I believe so, m' lady"
"Well, I guess we can call Operation Whirlwind a succ-"
BOOOOOOOM! BLAST!
"Aieeee! WHAT WAS THAT?!"
"Oh no, the Wolframists are coming back!"
"That was a missile from the hill!"
"We got a little time. Everyone! Quick! Paint yourselves carbon black and dress up as communists! The Wolframists are coming back!"
"Aye aye!"
The Ryccian Military managed to fool again the Wolframist Militia. They still thought they were communist rebels. The fight was on. Ryccia fired missiles, and Wolframists fired back. The Ryccians called for backup in a flash, as the number of militants overwhelmed the Ryccians in Fort Lily. All they could do is wait.

OOC: just so you know, the main wolframist stronghold is on the south island. The resistance in the north is limited.

"Tell them to wait. If we can get international aid for this attack, this battle will be that much easier."

Siari Mountains
The Ryccians heard that the Wolframist HQ was in the Siari Mountains, so they proceeded to attack. On their way, they met with Government Forces.

"Look! The Darkstraitese Army!"
"Okay boys. Time to approach"
They then saluted the Darkstraitese and joined them.

We are preparing for a major attack. We still await the forces from the capital.

Official Message from the Federal Republic of Karnetvor
A Karnetvorian brigade (3,200 soldiers) has moved to the Siari Mountains and joined the Darkstraitese and Ryccian troops. Karnetvor will also provide artillery and air support.

Temporary Command Center, Siari Mountains
General Vimes looked across the table at the other commanders. Among them were the Ryccian and Karnetvorian commanders. The Bruumans and the Bonaugureans had still not arrived yet. Well, he'd just have to do without them. He had a decent plan, anyway.
He pulled out the aerial photograph. He'd annotated it slightly, but it was still easy to see what it was:

"So, here's the plan. My men will begin moving into this valley. I know it looks rather small, but it's several miles long. We'll be mostly in tanks. Once we've moved in a few hundred meters, my men will begin blasting out hidey holes in the rock. These will be fairly deep, so if they do drop the bomb, we've got a chance. The tanks can be remotely controlled, so we'll send those forward; they'll think we're attacking and probably drop the bomb on the tank lines. Once they've dropped the bomb, assuming they do, we'll begin moving forward slowly, and with radiation suits."
He turned to the Ryccian commander. "Your men will be moving through the adjacent valley to attack the Wolframist fortress here. Once the bomb has gone off, radios will be practically worthless due to the pulse, and you can't start moving until the bomb is dropped. Once you hear it go off, get your men moving as quickly as you can. Humvees, Jeeps, but no tanks, and no men exposed to the radiation. If it doesn't go off by 1700, radio in, because if it hasn't gone off it's probably not going to."
Vimes looked at the Karnetvorian commander. "Your men will move through this valley, then, when the bomb goes off, you cut through here and launch an attack on the stronghold. If the bomb doesn't go off, radio in before continuing."
"All right everyone, let's move!"
