Election Commissioner(s)
#1

We've got elections starting up tomorrow and I'm wondering if:

1. We've got an election commissioner chosen?

And, 2. Do they need help understanding Condorcet/IRV? I'd be willing to give them a crash course on it if need be. It's quite simple.

That's all, thanks.

Why does the election commissioner need to know about Condorcet/IRV? Unless I am missing something, we are still using the standard first past the post method aren't we (based on the Election Act)?

That said, I am interested to know who has been appointed.

We apparently passed a reform on using is 14-2 a week ago. I don't even remember hearing about the vote, much less seeing it. You voted Abstain.

And I'm now glad I'm one of the two that voted "nay".

It was rushed through so stealthfully I doubt half its supporters even noticed. I can't even find the goddamn thread.

You know, I thought I had actually found it but that doesn't appear to be the discussion thread at all.

You're right, Far, where the hell is the discussion thread?

It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.

It has five posts in it, four of which are Unibot.

No, I mean the actual discussion regarding the amendment of the then recently passed election act that switched us to IRV. I can't seem to find it.

I thought maybe the following thread, but it was never mentioned there that anything was brought to vote:

That said, there has been a lot of votes and proposals lately, I can't remember them all. Thinking about it now, I can't remember where the proposal did come from, couldn't find the thread from a very quick search, but I do remember now that I wasn't really in favour of it when I abstained. Guessing I just didn't see the final results which didn't help (like a lot of votes, it was probably archived nearly immediately). I can live with this type of voting, just hadn't realised it had passed.

Maybe there never was a discussion thread? Is that allowed?

It was motioned to a vote toward the end of that thread.

Tbh I thought we were voting on just making it a separate act. I didn't realize we were switching to a new voting system with it.
