Military Exercises Go Extremely Well, According to Generals

Over the last week, members of the Royal Army, Navy, Air Force, and Special Forces, have been engaging in military exercises on the southern coast near Balent as part of the military's Bi-annual readiness review. Generals and the majority of their officer corps have spent this week doing performance reviews of their soldiers while the troops have been training in "assaults" on empty townships and then defending them from other regiments and battalions in the military. This included massive columns of Resentine's tanks and APCs, "Bombardments" and Naval Boarding Actions, and "Airstrikes" from the Air Force

Yesterday at a public news conference just a few hours after all Military exercises were concluded, the Marshall-General of the Army, Phillip K. Braddock, reported great success among most units, with a special congratulation toward Resentine's Special Forces Groups. When giving his initial overview of the exercises, Braddock said " All divisions of our military are preforming extremely well, it's astounding the amount of progress we've made since our last exercises. Especially for the Special Forces Division, which has been doing extremely well in comparison to almost any other division or task force in our military."

[Image: E7689C3C83623DE77820C3F881688D009C9EB915]

When asked about the actual success rate at these exercises, Braddock stated, "While I cannot get extremely specific about the success rate in certain exercises, as we were measuring a multitude of objects from Squad Leader Performance to Troop Stress Levels during operations, Overall, The Royal Army saw a 90 percent success rate, up two percent from six months ago, the Air Force saw 86 percent success rate, which is up almost 11 percent, the Navy reported a 93 percent success rate, which went up just sort of four percent, and Special Forces reported an astounding 99 percent success rate, which is up almost 8 percent. It is amazing what all of our groups have accomplished, and we look forward to the next performance review in six months."

While Braddock was signaled to leave by another general at that time, for reasons still unknown to the press, it remains clear that the Resetine military is prepared for almost any action taken against them, and are continuing to be prepared to new threats no matter where in the South Pacific they are.

Tensions with Ryccia on the Rise

After failed negotiation attempts by King Claudius to help calm tensions between the nation of Ryccia and the Southern Cooperation Organization, The King has join the SCO in condemning Ryccia's Prime Minister and imposing sanctions upon the country. While no comment was made by Resentine's Military Commanders on any plans dealing with Ryccia, King Claudius has insisted that while Kingdom is imposing sanctions, that we need to "Keep the negotiation table open, and welcome Ryccia with open arms if they continue to seek a peaceful solution to this dreadfully dangerous situation."

Picture of King Claudius, adressing the news-media about the Ryccia Situatation

While the King was speaking to the Media from Tenshire Palace, at the Parliament Building in Theron, Second Minister Thomas Reddiker suggested a far more agressive appraoch.

"While I respect our King and the way he has addressed the situation so far, it simply is not enough. The Government of Ryccia is actively suppressing it's people, endangering and killing them, while they use illegal civilian militias to take the law into their own hands! The Ryccian Prime Minister has usurped the power of the Ryccian Court System, usurped the power of Ryccia's own King, and declared a military dictatorship where the Popular opinion is suppressed in the name of 'Order and Peace'. As a strong believer in Civil Rights and Free Speech, I cannot believe that we have taken such a slacking approach to this situation. We should be working with Qvait and the people of Ryccia to overthrow that Fascist and put a new government into power there, one run by the people."

Picture of Second Minister Reddiker during his Press Confrence on Ryccia Yesterday

Sadly, the Second Minister was unavailable for further questioning, as he was already late for a closed-door meeting with our Prime Minister. With that, the true question remains as to what should be done about Ryccia's aggressive actions against her citizens. The Prime Minister, knowing this, has ordered that the rest of Parliament meet on this subject on Thursday of this week. All Public and Private media have been invited to attend. It will be displayed live on the P-SPAN channel, and will have coverage from both conservative and liberal media icons.

WAR!

King releases PSA
After leaving a meeting with Prime Minister Gregory Giddenhiemer and rushing back to the Royal Palace, King Claudius Valhalla III made an official public service announcement at approximately 5:40 P.M. today from the Throne Room.

King Claudius during the Public Service Announcement

He opens up as such, "My dear citizens, I have received today a very grave message which may effect our dear nation's progress in so many dangerous ways. As of 5:30 P.M., Theron time, we have entered a state of war with the Constitutional Monarchy of Ryccia. This most unusual act of aggression against our small and peaceful nation has come to our complete surprise, but we are ready if they attempt to take our homes. We are not alone in this dangerous endeavor, for we are not the only nation that Ryccia has instigated. Larger nations, such as Qvait and Kringalia, have also had war declared on them, and are at our aid in this time of crisis. But, we must also remember the smaller nations as well, nations such as Laiwan, who is currently fighting off a massive Ryccian invasion in their city of Mura. We must support them as much as we can, for they are even more outnumbered than we will be."

He goes on to mention the complete mobilization of Resentine's military, including the reserve forces, and asking everyone to remain calm in this time of crisis.

Parliament Reinstates Draft

As of 6:30 P.M., Theron Time, Parliament passed a bill that reinstated the Military Draft Act of 1885, which was originally made at the beginning of Resentine's Civil War, and shut down at the end of the war in 1980. With less than 40 minutes of discussing the matter, The Bill was passed 168-32. One of the Bills main opponents, Representative Baron Schatzinger of Balent, claimed in an emotional response after the vote that "Every single person who voted for that bill should be convicted of war crimes" for "sending our nation's children to die in another country". Representative Schatzinger was removed after physically attacking one of the Bills main supporters, Rep. Steven Schultz of Theron, for calling him a "coward" and a "Supporter of Fascism". We are informed that Rep. Schultz will not be filing charges.

Rep Schatzinger, in the Blue Coat, shown attacking Rep. Schultz in Parliament

Prime Minister Gidenhiemer, while agreing with Rep. Schatzinger that conscription was "Despicable" and "Dangerous", he believed it necessary for the "Security of the Federation and the Region" so Ryccia's government "Can be brought to justice for it's crimes against it's people and humanity as a whole". The Bill itself states that the official age for drafting is anyone aged 18-25 years, male or female.

Any and all further updates about the Ryccian War will be brought to you as soon as they appear.

Resentine Accepted into the SCO

In the private chambers of the Southern Cooperation Organization, members voted unanimously to elect Resentine as a fully fledged member of the SCO. While most citizens were excited by the news, seeing it as a chance to help bring Resentine more industry and jobs, some economists and political scientists remain skeptical of the membership.

"While joining the SCO has it's security benefits, it does maintain some downsides," said Political Scientist Professor Martha Schrodinger, of the National University of Resentine at Balent. "It will have some effects from our neighbors, mainly Sporaltryus, who currently holds membership in the Southern Socialist Union. This could potentially mean some new tension with them, given the recent political issues between the two organizations."

Even while there remains some skepticism, Parliament has already approved King Claudius' selection for representative to the SCO, Valarie Braddock, a former member of Parliament. While all members insist that she is a quality candidate and a very good pick by the King, some question her loyalties to Resentine as a whole, as she is married to Marshall Phillip K. Braddock of the Royal Army. Representative Raymond Charles of Charon stated after the vote that he had wished "some representatives had displayed more concern over Madame Braddock's direct association with the military, rather than her time as a member of Parliament."

Valarie Braddock addressing the News Media after the Parliament vote

However, at a Press Conference after the vote in Parliament, Madame Braddock insisted that any concerns over pushing her husbands agenda were "Preposterous and incorrect", and that she was only appointed due to her ability to "Represent the Resentinian people as a whole."

Resentinian Navy sends aid to Scalten Rebels

In a agressive and controversial move yesterday, Royal Navy High Admiral Thomas M. Day, after consulting with King Claudius, decided to move ahead with plans to send humanitarian aid to Rebel Forces in Scalten. Scalten, a northern island off of the continent that is home for Resentine's allies like Kringalia and Qvait, was recently declared as part of the Country of Sanden, and resistance to Sanden's occupation quickly grew, forceing the Sandenese Military off of the island, for the moment.

The HMS Patriot setting out to deliver humanitarian aid to Scalten

In an address to the media, High Admiral Day stated that Sanden's attempted occupation of Scalten was a "Violation of National Sovereignty, and an insult to what Resentine stands for." He went on to compare the occupation to someone "Invading your house, stealing the ownership papers, and getting it declared as their own." While there remains general public support for the move, the majority of the Resentinian public would prefer to keep it strictly as humanitarian aid, as they want to avoid any conflict with Sanden itself.

The Battle Group that will be escorting the ships carrying the humanitarian aid will be the Third Naval Battle Group, under the command of Rear Admiral Johnathan Riddick and the HMS Patriot.

Resentine enters in Nuclear Talks

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dispatched several members to Stockholm, Qvait to participate in the International Arms Reduction and Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, abbreviated IARNPT. Many nations from the Southern Cooperation Organization and even some nations from outside of the alliance have decided to attend. Members of the Southern Socialist Union are currently debating whether to attend as individual nations, or to arrive at the conference collectively, including Resentine's nuclear armed neighbor, Sporaltryus. When asked to comment, Foriegn Minister Marko Ramius stated, "We believe that these nuclear talks are extremely important, not just for ourselves, but for the entire South Pacific. During our Civil War, our national capital, Theron, was almost destroyed by a nuclear weapon, and we banned research into these weapons because of it. I do not expect other nations to follow in our footsteps yet, however, I would appreciate that they take steps back in their nuclear programs. In the words of our king when he banned nuclear weapons research more than 20 years ago, 'Let us not destroy the world today, tomorrow, or decades from now.' We must show the world that these weapons are no longer necessary."

Many Diplomats are attending the conference in Stockholm, including Valarie Braddock.

Many of the nation's most notable diplomats were selected to attend the conference, including Valarie Braddock, Resentine's representative to the Southern Cooperation Organization. While she herself was not available to comment, her Press Secretary stated that she was "very excited to attend" and hoped "much progress on the question of nuclear weapons would be made."

While weapons research is banned in Resentine, there remains a small minority of both civilians and scientists who feel that nukes should be legalized. In a private interview at his research lab outside of Charon, Physicist Gregor Natalio said that "Nuclear weapons research is key to Resentine securing any type of future for itself. Without these weapons, the King, god bless him, leaves us open to threat of nuclear bombardment from other nations, leaving us open to being bullied into situations that we should have no part in. And it would also help my interns in getting a project for their Graduate's Paper."

Multiple Ships Disappear, Reason Unknown

Approximately a week ago, the HMS Dauntless, one of Resentine's Aircraft Carriers, along with the rest of the 2nd Naval Battle Group, left port in Anton, Resentine, headed south for a currently unknown mission. Only a week before that, the destroyer HMS Invincible, along with her small detachment of Frigates and support ships, left port in Balent, also headed south for seemingly unknown reasons. When we attempted to contact the Naval Department of the Royal Armed Forces, we did not receive significant comment from staff, only saying that both groups were dispatched on "Classified Operations". After several attempts to speak to High Admiral Thomas M. Day, we were promptly asked to leave. After being removed from the Hexagon, we were approached by a Naval Officer, who asked his name not be revealed, stating that some of the ships had lost contact with fleet command, ant that the Dauntless was dispatched to find them. The Officer refused to give us the exact reason of why the ships had lost contact, claiming that s/he was not even aware of how. We will be keeping you updated as the story develops.\

Navy Forced to go Public with "The Baliish Incident"

In an extreme turn of events today, High Admiral Thomas M. Day ordered for the Parliament Arms and Military Committee to meet with him to discuss "a pressing issue". After an hour long meeting with the Committee, Admiral Day, along with Admiral Marcus Riley of the First Battle Group, was brought with the Committee to the Arms Committee chambers to discuss what they had talked about privately, in front of news-media. When the Committee was brought into session, Admiral Day described what is now being called by many as "The Baliish Incident". According to the Admiral, a Navy Intelligence Officer found an old map leading to the former region of Baliish in the National Archives, and by the end of the day, the 4th Naval Battle Group, led by the HMS Invincible left port in Anton to go to the island and investigate what had caused them to loose contact with the mainland almost 70 years ago. After loosing contact with the 4th, The King called upon allies and rivals alike in an attempt to locate the group. The situation then escalated to a level unseen since before the Civil War. After Resentine's neighbor, Sporaltryus, captured what can only be described as "Hell-spawn" or "Dark Ones", the Navy began to place what they called "Precautionary measures" to ensure that the creature did not escape. The situation was almost escalated into conflict, but the Naval forces of Darkstrait were able to successfully deescalate the situation.

[Image: us-navy-chief-of-staff-admiral-jonathan-...ameron.jpg]
High-Admiral Thomas M. Day and Admiral Marcus A. Riley in the Arms Committee Chambers.

Not long after, the President of Sporaltryus, Jasper Henn, ordered his forces in Baliish to leave, only to have an invasion force land on the island's shores a few hours later. What happened next could only be described by Day as a "Dramatic Escalation" leading to the Sporaltryan-Resentinian Border to be closed, and, ultimately, with the current Sporaltryan Threat to use nuclear weapons on Resentinian troops. When King Claudius was asked about the situation, he said he was "Appalled that Sporaltryus would threaten a country with nuclear weapons, while claiming to only have them in self-defense." When asked if he would seek assistance from the SCO, he responded with a simple, "Yes", before making his way into the Royal Palace. Political analysts had been watching relations between Sporaltryus and Resentine crumble after Resentine joined the Southern Cooperation Organization, but, many insisted that they did not anticipate it to degrade so quickly.

Sporaltryus Threatens Resentine: Return to War?

Several Members of the Resentinian Parliament have insisted that Sporaltryan President Jasper Henn's threat to attack Resentinian Troops with nuclear weapons is an "Act of war" against Resentine, and are seeking Parliamentary approval for a declaration of war.
Representative Armeni Shenks of Echenston stated in Parliament that Henn is "Threatening the well being of Resentinian Soldiers, Citizens, and Property" and that Resentine should not "tolerate these sorts of threats to our nation's well being!". Mr. Shenks has assembled a small coalition of representatives that agree, but, they currently do not hold the majority needed to pass a declaration. When Prime Minister Giddenhiemer got up to speak, he stated, "While I agree with my colleague, and that Sporaltryus should not be allowed to act in such an aggressive demeanor without repercussions, I disagree that we need to start a war. If there is going to be a war, we cannot allow ourselves to become the instigators, for that brings us down to the same level that President Henn currently sits on."

[Image: Petro_Symonenko_in_Ukrainian_parliament_in_2014.jpg]
Prime Minister Giddenhiemer speaking in Parliament today.

Many supporters of a declaration that people like Giddenhiemer would wait around until Sporaltryus was at the Gates of Theron before declaring war, and that Resentine must take the initiative to prevent significant damage to Resentine before it is too late. Many citizens agree with the Prime Minister, however. Johnathan Glum, an office worker in Theron, said that "If Resentine starts a war with Sporaltryus, we become the aggressor, and we loose most of the foreign standing we have. We begin to look like the Rebels we sought to be rid of for a hundred years." He then realized he was late and rushed off. Parliament will continue debating the idea tomorrow, but, it looks unlikely that a declaration of war will pass.

Resentine to Ally with Socialist Union Member

King Claudius officially announced today a formal treaty between Resentine and the Socialist Federated Democracy of Darkstrait, called the "Resentine-Darkstrait Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Defense" or the TFCMD. While the treaty itself is not surprising, given Resentine and Darkstrait's shared view on many social domestic policies and in foreign policy, including Darkstrait's current assistance in Baliish alongside the Royal Navy. While Parliament has not had the chance to discuss the Treaty in session yet, members who have seen it, including Prime Minister Gregory Gidenhiemer and Second Minister Thomas Reddicker, who are from the Liberal Democratic and Federalist Republican parties, respectively, seem to agree that the Treaty in its entirety would be beneficial to Resentine.
However, members of some of the more Radical Parties, such as Richard Sanders of the Independent Conservative Party, insist that this an attempt by the King to turn slowly turn Resentine into a Communist State along the lines of Sporaltryus. "This is just the first step," Sanders proclaimed loudly at a press conference for the party. "First, they join us with treaties of 'Friendship' and 'Cooperation", next you have Young men and women raising the Red Banner in the Royal Square, and all you will be able to hear for kilometers is 'Hail Claudius, savior of the Revolution!' It will be the SCA all over again except with the Hammer and Sickle!"

Picture of King Claudius discussing the Treaty with reporters.

When we approached the King about Representative Sander's concerns, he insisted that while it was fine that Sanders has a strong opinion about the treaty, it would be better if he "looked at the facts" before making ridiculous accusations. The King is currently awaiting the arrival of Dakstraitese Archchancellor Ridcully in Theron to finalize some minor details of the treaty before presenting the Treaty before Parliament. Parliament is expected to discuss the treaty in session and vote on it tomorrow, allowing the King and the Archchancellor to sign it on Friday. They are expected to sign the Treaty at the Royal Palace.

Ryccia Concludes Civil War, International Tensions Remain High

While Ryccia has successfully defeated it's rebels in Talya, a now socialist division of Ryccia, however, it still stands accused by members of the international community, mainly Sporaltryus, Awesominia, and Farengeto, of committing human rights violations against the Taylan people, Farengeto going so far as to threaten war against the nation. Qvait attempted to get both sides to discuss it peacefully, but both Awesominia and Farengeto have revoked recognition of Ryccia as a country and will not speak to it. We will be covering the story as it progresses.

Attack on Technology Lab!

During a pre-arranged tour of the Yesla Science and Technology Lab just north of Balent, The Lab and our reporters came under attack by a currently still unknown force. Thankfully, members of the Royal Army were also present at the lab, and troops were quickly dispatched to deal with the threat. The fighting lasted for just over forty-five minutes until members of the Royal Army killed or drove off the terrorist force from the lab. When approached about the attack that had just occurred, Royal Army Major Winifred Scott of the 2nd Infantry Brigade stated, "We don't know who attacked the lab, or who armed these terrorists, but, we will find out soon, and we will be ready if any more attacks occur." It is reported that immediately when the attack was reported, the Joint Chiefs of Staff held a meeting to discuss the topic While the attack was going on, one of our photographers managed to get some images of the fighting. Be warned that some images may be found as disturbing to readers.

The Current casualty count for the Enemy Force is currently unknown, however, current estimates say anywhere from fifty to three-hundred hostiles were killed in the attack, suggesting that there was more troops who managed to retreat. The current casualty count on the Resentinian side is reported to be twenty-five to seventy-five, with approximately five to ten civilian casualties. None of our reporters were killed during the fighting.

Ryccian Situation Diffuses

Ryccia chose to submit itself to the Southern Cooperation Organization's demands, and the Organization is currently setting up an International Commission to oversee Ryccia's progress to becoming a stable nation. Several Resentinian Politicians, most prominently Ambassador Carl Walters, an ambassador working for Resentine's Foreign Ministry, who has worked closely with Foreign Minister Marko Ramius and appeared on the first episode of the political discussion show Real Time, called the action, "A Failure for National Sovereignty". On Real Time, Walters boldly stated that, "None of what happened to Ryccia would have happened to Kringalia or Sporaltryus in the same situation." The outcome of the situation itself, however, remains to be seen.

Resentine-Darkstrait Treaty caused rise in GDP, Economists Say

The Resentinian GDP rose over one percent in the last two weeks, thanks to the new treaty between Resentine and Darkstrait, said many economists. "Trade between Resentine and Darkstrait has risen exponentially between our two countries," stated Balent University Professor Ingrid Yusef, "We've seen more International trade in the last two weeks than we did in the last six months." According to Warren Trade Company, a naval shipping company based out of Theron, they've had to hire at least 20 new job slots to meet demands for both imports and exports. "It's starting to get quite hectic around here," Dock Manager Steven Gildenstern said, "We've had a lot of new ships coming in and out of these docks. honestly, we're having a hard time keeping up with all the ships coming in. I acutally just sent a letter to my boss asking him to get someone to build or extend the docks so we can get more ships on them."

While economists noted that the current political situation with Darkstrait and Operation: Affirmed may affect trade, they do predict that trade will continue to increase and a rise in both the Resentinian and Darkstraitese economies for at least the next year while the increased trading continues.

Resentine Announces New Tanks, Helicopters, and Artillery

At a press conference earlier today, Marshall-General Phillip K. Braddock, along with executives from the Resentinian Company Geron Motors, Inc. and the Milko Aviation Corporation, announced the addition of several new vehicles to the fleets of the Royal Army, Guard Corps, and Special Forces. "We have been experimenting with these for years now," said Braddock, "And I am more than happy to say that these new vehicles meet modern standards we could have only dreamed of ten years ago. The progress the Army has made with both Geron Motors and Milko Aviation has been astounding, and truly represents Resentinian ingenuity and spirit. Their expertise has helped us catch up with the rest of the world in technology, and we were proud to have them on board."

The New vehicles, being the AMX-Leclerc Tank, the Tiger Attack Helicopter(With Anti-Air and Ground capabilities), and the M270 Rocket Artillery Vehicle, have been fitted with the newest technology available to Resentine. Orders for each vehicle currently stands at fifty, with several already built and several more nearing the end of construction.

The Run for Prime Minister Begins!
[Image: mark-hamill-bearded-152095.jpg][Image: donald_trump_72505.jpg]
Lower: Federalist Republican Candidate Biggot Ed Butte, Upper: Incumbent Candidate Gregory Gidenhiemer

With candidacy for the Prime Minister opening up the week, almost a dozen people have declared themselves as running for the office, including Charon Representative Adam Boleslav(IC)and Theron Regional Governor Feodor Ipatiy(LD). However, the two most notable candidates for the moment are incumbent Gregory Gidenhiemer(LD), and Real Estate Mogul Biggot Ed Butte(FR). While they are both candidates for the Office of Prime Minister, their ideas on what needs to be done with Resentine are fairly opposite.

Gregory Gidenhiemer is running for office on the Federation Liberal Democratic Party and has served as the Prime Minister for the last 12 years. He has previously served as a Representative of the City of Talloran in both the Federal Parliament and in the Charon Regional Council for almost 30 years before he was elected Prime Minister. He has often been called a man of the people by his supporters, and has also had the ear of King Claudius III since he was elected to Parliament. During his time in Parliament, he introduced the original Campaign Finance Reform and Anti-Corruption Act, the Veterans Support and Rehabilitations Act, co-sponsored the Improved Healthcare Reform Act, and recently secured and passed the Affordable Higher Learning Act, the Resentinian Freedoms Act, and extended the Civil Protections Act. Most recent polling among citizens have him polling at just over 60 percent, making him the most popular and longest serving Prime Minister since the foundation of the Parliament. Our political analysts predict PM Gidenhiemer as completely securing his role as the candidate for the Liberal Democrats.

Biggot Ed Butte is a relative newcomer to the political scene, with the run for the Prime Minister's office being his first attempt at any political office. Mr. Butte is well known in the business world as a large real estate broker, and a large gambler on the international stock market. He is also known for his role on several reality TV shows, which is where most Resentinians may see him. Even though he is new to the political stage, he has already made several bold statements that were targeted at Refugees that had fled the Ryccian Civil War of 2015 accusing them of being "Leeches and Criminals" accusing these refugees of stealing jobs, and claiming that he would "Throw them all out" if elected. While unpopular among the mainstream Federalist Republicans, he has his polling numbers increase to almost 10 percent after those statements, leaving our analysts to believe that he may stand a chance against the other candidates in his party.

The Federalist Papers has arranged interviews with PM Gidenhiemer and Mr. Butte which will be released in our next issue.

Progress in Baliish slow as Chancellor is Appointed
[Image: homs_in_the_snow.jpg?itok=dAYiR0zu]
Destruction in Dedric discovered by Royal Engineers upon their arrival in the city.

Despite the deployment of Royal Engineers to Baliish, progress to prepare the archipelago for re-colonization has been slow due to the sheer amount of destruction that has occurred. One officer, Lieutenant Vasiliev Lutenski, told our reporters, "There's just so much rubble everywhere. We've had to order in some serious equipment, powerful loaders and diggers, even with that, I'd say we've done almost 50000 kilograms of rubble and destroyed equipment that's getting sent back to the mainland. It's going to take some time to clear out the colony." Lt. Lutenski had to leave us after he received a call over his radio that yet another one of his diggers had broken down.

Even as Chancellor Ivan Gregory was appointed, more and more assets of the Royal Engineers were diverted to Baliish. Many analysts say that the effort to rebuild will go smoothly under Gregory's oversight, though critics of Gregory are quick to point out his antagonistic attitude against his fellow Federalist Republicans in Parliament, and note that it could be played against him in requests for funding. It is currently unknown how long the reconstruction efforts for Baliish will go on, with some estimates saying it could take almost 2 years to successfully rebuild the colony.

Interview: Prime Minister Gidenhiemer
[Image: 1297642219089_ORIGINAL.jpg?quality=80&size=420x]

Incumbent Candidate Prime Minister Gregory Gidenhiemer has been Prime Minister for the last 12 years and has represented the city of Talloran for the previous 30 years. He is the longest serving and most popular Prime Minister in the history of the Federation Parliament, and has passed some of the most liberal domestic policies since the end of the Resentinian Civil War. If elected, it would be his seventh term as PM, and give him a solid 44 years of experience in politics. This interview was done on the 17th.

Federalist Papers: Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to meet with us, Mr. Prime Minister.

G. Gidenhiemer: It's my pleasure to be here.

F.P.: Let's start with a little history. You were born in Talloran during the war, yes?

G.G.: Yea, that's right. Back then, Talloran had recovered from the battle that took place in 1900, but, the oppression of the SCA was still there. Curfews, rationing, occasional bombardments from Royalist forces from across the Farenfall river. It wasn't nice, but, it was home. My dad was an SCA officer, so, I would sneak out after curfew and steal extra rations for my friends. Most of the time; if I was caught, I could just use his title to get past any patrols; but, there were a few times where he actually had to come and get me from the local prison.

F.P.: Your father was an SCA officer? Why wasn't he prosecuted with the rest of the SCA military?

G.G.: That's something I'm still trying to figure out myself. When he died, I got a surprise visit from Royal Security Services. They gave me his medals for his service for the Royal Government, but, the files on what he did are still classified.

F.P.: Interesting. Moving on from that, you got involved in Politics at the rather young age of 24, when you were elected to Talloran City Council. How did you get elected at such a young age?

G.G.: Well, I led a rally cry, of sorts. Talloran was in ruins from the war, again, and I led the effort to try and clean in up. I arranged for supplies to be smuggled in for the citizens when the Royalists and the SCA began fighting in the city. After the battle was over, I knew someone would need to lead rebuilding efforts, so I ran for office, won, and became a member of the city council. I put myself in contact with construction companies in the Theron, and they came to our aid. I stayed on the city council for eight years and made sure that Talloran was rebuilt, and by then, my office was constantly getting calls about running in the Regional Council, an offer which I couldn't refuse. I stayed honest and true to my cause, and that pushed me into Parliament.

F.P.: That leads right into my next question, actually. When you became a member of Parliament, you quickly developed a very friendly relationship with King Claudius. Would you care to explain how you two met?

G.G.: That's actually a really interesting story. Back in my days in City Council, I had led him on a tour of the city, showing him our reconstruction efforts and the progress we were making. He ended up having the pre-parliament government cover the cost for rebuilding in Talloran, along with several dozen cities and towns in the South. When I made it to Parliament, he led the "welcoming committee" for me. A few months later, we were debating on an Amendment to the Reconstruction act, one that would've given it funding for at least 10 more years, when he summoned me to the Royal Palace, and asked me one simple question: Why should it pass? I gave my answer, and a few days later, the amendment was law. He did this many times during my era as Talloran's MP, and I have to say, he is really good at looking at things from another's point of view.

F.P.: Well, our time is almost up, so, let's go to our final question: Why should the people vote for you as Prime Minister?

G.G.: I have been, and always will be, a staunch liberal, and have always put the people first, no matter what level of government I was involved in. I made sure that the Reconstruction act was renewed and revitalized, I passed the first Resentinian Freedoms Act, and the Veterans Support and Rehabilitations Act. I always have, and always will, put the people first, whether at home in Talloran or in Parliament in Theron. That's all.

F.P.: PM Gidenhiemer, thank you for your time.

G.G.: No, thank you.

While we were able to interview PM Gidenhiemer, Mr. Butte regrettably had to cancel due to a conflict with his campaign schedule. We will have an interview with him for next week's issue.

Parliament passes new Anti-gun legislation

Parliament passed brand new anti-gun legislation yesterday, called the Online Arms Examination Act, according to Press Secretary Arno Valdev, who has also stated that King Claudius has every intention of signing it into law. The new law would prevent online sales from circumventing the Federal background check system. However, controversy and claims from the far right of the Federalist Republican party and the National Gun Owners Association claims that this is a renewed effort by King Claudius to take away guns from the citizenry, calling it almost like "The SCA", despite common knowledge that the SCA trained much of their citizenry on firearm usage, along with anti-royalist propaganda. Pro-gun advocates are likely to sue should the act be passed by King Claudius.
