High Court elections aren't run using a preferential ballot, unlike Cabinet elections. They're run using an approval method-- you vote only for the candidates/options you approve of, and the 4 with the most votes win.

To be clear, you do not have to list all candidates on your ballot, but only those you want to vote for.

OKAY.

Farengeto's post (since deleted) seems to have caused a lot of confusion.

You cannot cast 5 votes.

You are given 4 votes, and you may cast 1, 2, 3 or all 4 of them.

Court elections are not run by preferential ballot. We use approval block voting.

Your ballots are invalid if you list more than 4 options.

Because those are the rules.
