We could start a time capsule tradition? At the very least, create one during the festival.

I know TRR once did that. We could definitely do it!

For those who are new to the CYOA gameplay, it's the principle that can be seen in plenty of RPG, tell tale games and visual novels. One has the power to choose only in particular moments, but these choices can lead to different routes and endings; like the Butterfly Effect. Click/tap the images to enlarge them.

Basic type of structure.

A more elaborated example.

The level of detail depends on both its purpose and time consumption expected. Thus, the more complex the story, the more time is to be invested designing the game and playing it.

We need to discuss what kind of routes we want to build and what elements we'd like to use in them. For example, "getting inside a time loop and trying to leave it", "meeting with your future self who wants to kill you", "trying to change something from your past and getting unexpected results", "traveling back in time again and again to save somebody's life" among plenty of others.

This seems like it will be a fun festival! I think we should make a region for this like what happens at the Regional Games. I say this because though the forum based festivals are active I don't see many new players having a go. I believe this way there would be lots more new members having a shot instead of just mainly older members.

Having to create a region for this festival might not be so practical, but maybe running the polls in-game so everybody can participate whilst the adventure develops in the forums as a result would be another story. The point is being able to pull as many new and not-so-new nations into the festival as you said... That's why, rather than alienating the event in a region (or only in the forums) might not be as good as using The South Pacific region itself. Either way, thanks for the insight!

How about we look at the 'daily time-loop' as one of the examples?
Like, changing a couple of choices with every loop whilst one (everybody who are playing) tries to find what causes it and a way out; with endings like:
  • Bad Ending: Getting stuck until insanity
  • Good Ending: Escaping the loop
  • True Ending: Finding the cause and escaping the loop

Maybe we could make a themed edition of the Regional Games, based on the game suggestions Henn made in the other thread, for this festival?
