Days had passed since the start of the Sporaltryan invasion. The front was in a state of stalemate; neither side had gained additional territory. The capital was still in a state of siege, but it held on, thanks to supplies being air-dropped. Of course five of these planes were shot down. Bunkers, trenches and anti-aircraft positions were being built in preparation for a final assault.
"General, are your forces in position?" said President Kerenskiy in his bunker to General Rendici on a safe telephone line.
"Yes Mr.President. Operation Octopus is underway."
30 kilometers outside the city, Karnetvorian artillery started shelling the Sporaltryan positions from all directions, followed by airstrikes. After four hours of this ordeal, two infantry brigades, 5000 soldiers each, with tank and helicopter support, assaulted the positions. One by one, the Karnetvorians started taking them.
In the coast, the Karnetvorian Navy had been engaging the Sporaltryan fleet, slowly gaining the advantage, but losing a cruiser, a destroyer, and three submarines.
