RE: Holiday and New Year Festivals - Arbiter08 - 12-05-2014

I think we should celebrate Christmas with TNP, and New Years alone. We don't want the festival to drag on for too long, or else we risk everyone losing interest. I said Christmas with TNP because who better to celebrate Christmas then The North Pole Pacific?

RE: Holiday and New Year Festivals - Sopo - 12-05-2014

If it will be one continuous festival, it seems kind of awkward to cut off the joint portion halfway through. It makes sense to me for the whole festival to be a joint affair. Do we know if it will be held on our forums, theirs, or both?

RE: Holiday and New Year Festivals - Aramanchovia - 12-05-2014

I don't mind if it is all a joint festival - around 12 days sounds acceptable for that (bit like the song - The 12 Days of Christmas... Festival), much longer would probably be too long for a joint event, because as mentioned, people would lose interest. It would be more work to split it I believe.

Let me ask in the Cabinet Office about TNP's plans for the festival. I'll be saying we propose having them all throughout the event, and want to know how to distribute our participation (on which forum, when to move to the other, etc).

I like that idea, Aram. That's treat thinking! Smile

Raven says he'll get in touch with TNP to see if their Culture team can get in touch with us, to discuss all these organisation details. Good work so far, everyone!

Aye aye, Cap'n!

RE: Holiday and New Year Festivals - Farengeto - 12-05-2014

That two week period represents my winter break for university, so that time is satisfactory.

We should ideally try and include as many significant holidays as possible (not saying we should ignore notable ones, but they shouldn't drown out the largest ones). Maybe include a list in the WFE of currently occurring holidays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multinational_festivals_and_holidays#December), and a countdown to any big ones. Christmas could arguably be the biggest priority since it is presumably celebrated by the largest majority.

RE: Holiday and New Year Festivals - Punchwood - 12-06-2014

Christmas would be the biggest as New Years Eve really is a two day celebration as one is in the New Year. I would agree having they for the whole festival would make the most logical sense.

Oh yeah I'm back! (This is when most for you will start crying!)

[SEASONAL FESTIVALS TEAM]
[ARAMANCHOVIA - FARENGETO - HENN - LLAMAS - SOPO]

We now have a theme: Twelve Days of Christmas. I will be contacting the North Pacifican Minister of Culture shortly. My first idea would be to theme each day after the corresponding part of the song, starting with a partridge in a pear trea, and ending with twelve drummers drumming, and having discussions, games and activities related to that.

Thoughts?

RE: Holiday and New Year Festivals - Aramanchovia - 12-23-2014

Sounds a plan.

I think a palm tree would be more appropriate than a pear tree - maybe we could change the items for each of the days into symbols that are relevant to one/both regions? Might be a bit difficult to come up with, just a thought. Don't know enough about TNP to make suggestions as to what symbols we could use that would be appropriate for them though.
