RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 04-06-2015

Like I explained in the OP, I am guiding myself by reference points. Previously we thought TSP had been founded in April 2003 because the ChangeLog entry of that month was the first mention of the Pacifics being created, but that entry was condensing changes from previous months. That last entry before that one was in December 2002, so at least we know that up to the 10 December 2002 entry, there was no TSP.

After that, the earliest mention of TSP I have found is from that forum in 6 January 2003. That means our two reference points are 10 December 2002 and 6 January 2003. At some point between those two dates, TSP must have been created.

RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 04-24-2015

I have found this source that mentions TSP on 1 January 2003. I cannot say for sure, but I believe that the South Pacific was created somewhere between 1 January 2003 and 6 January 2003.

I wonder if (1) TAC would help me our browsing the NS Technical or Gameplay Forums to see if anyone has asked about the creation of the Feeders and (2) it would be of any use to ask the NS Admins about those dates?

Looking through masses of text for the proverbial needle in the hay stack?

Asking the Admins might be a good idea. I see no reason why they can't help clarify the whole thing other than "i'm too busy doing Admin stuff"

RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 04-24-2015

I don't think they'd be able to give us a specific date of creation, but [violet] might be able to say if our overall estimate add up, right?

RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 04-27-2015

Max says our estimate should be good. He says he doesn't keep records of such early dates, but does remember working on lots of changes around those dates, and has an email from 10 February 2003 mentioning TSP.

EDIT: I've read his email again and he mentions working on NS stuff on New Year's Eve/Day. Maybe TSP was created on 1 January 2003?

Sounds feasible.

RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 04-27-2015

Might I add how nice it was for Max to reply within hours of receiving the email. Smile

I think he likes you Tounge

RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Feirmont - 04-27-2015

I agree with TAC Tounge

RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 04-29-2015

Max also asked me if I had the creation dates for the other Feeders. I wonder if we could look into that?

Max Barry Wrote:Do you know when the other Pacifics were created? Because I know a few were created at the same time. I don't know if the South Pacific was part of a bunch or not, though... it's possible I added TSP as the first addition, then other Pacifics later.
