They should indeed, but keep note that Sriwijaya is a nation that is not really versed in English. They have the skills and the diplomats, but they are severely weakened by the language barrier.

One of the reasons why I am bringing Sriwijaya up is to simulate the language barriers nations have with each other. I hope that this won't be much of a hassle.

Still, shouldn't your diplomats have been expected to learn it?

Ideally an ambassador would know the international lingua franca, but organisations like the UN do have translators, to ensure that foreign language speakers can fully understand what others say.

They are expected, true. But apparently they do not, the limited resources of Sriwijaya does not really permit the luxury of educating the people in English or French.

I don't think French is an international language in Pacifica. Austral would be more like it.

To my knowledge French seems to be like the second major language. Basil Day kinda proves it..

It's not as though the simple matter of language education is impossible in the modern age. A trained and educated diplomat should have access to at least the basic tools to alearn a language, or at least someone on their staff.

RE: [OOC] Southern Cooperation Organisation - Hammerstar - 05-23-2016

They don't even have proper internet yet, and those who are well versed in English are only those that study abroad. The representative in question studied in the University of Sriwijaya, and that university only uses Malay, Indonesian, Farsi and Arabic as the academic language.

They will grow to a stronger and more modern nation soon, but for now, they are incredibly handicapped.

Does the charter say anything about actions in case of an attack against an SCO member?
