RE: Approvals for Election Commissioner - Escade - 03-20-2015

Yes 2. and 3. are now kind of overlapping. Do you mean who nominates an EC with 3? Or?

That is one of the things which bugged me about this one. Right now, it just mentions they are appointed, but it could be appointed by anyone - it is unclear.

Edit: Get rid of the word MAY while you are at it. Too ambiguous...

Sounds good, yeah.

Quote:Article 4 - Election Commission

1. Elections will be run by a member of the forum administration staff, acting as an election commissioner.
2. A designated Election Commissioner shall be appointed by the administration staff if all its members will be candidates in the given election, or if no administrator is able to be an Election Commissioner.
3. Any appointments for the Election Commission must be nominated one week prior to the start of general elections and approved by the Assembly.

I was just saying that second clause had a couple of errors already. Might be better to just tighten it up rather than adding a clause, yes.

"Just tightening" up the second clause wouldn't address the problem that admin appointments aren't approved by the Assembly; not to mention that the nomination can happen the day of with little time for discussion on the choice of EC.

Yeah, it would still be better with the stuff added, agreed (which I thought could have been incorporated into Clause 2, rather than a separate clause). Your updated version is good though. My post was a response to Escade, you just posted at much the same time with an updated version, which I hadn't seen.

Ah, sorry. My mistake.

No, no, no. Do not dump this in our laps.

If the Assembly wants it, take it, but please don't be legislating more responsibilities to admins.

Sorry, what responsibility are you complaining about? That you need to nominate the EC a week before elections?

RE: Approvals for Election Commissioner - Feirmont - 03-20-2015

What if we did something like this:

Quote:Article 4 - Election Commission

1. Elections will be run by a member of the Assembly, acting as an election commissioner.
2.  A designated Election Commissioner shall be appointed and approved by the administration staff the Assembly one week prior to the start of general elections. if all its members will be candidates in the given election, or if no administrator is able to be an Election Commissioner.

Just throwing an idea. I do however believe the current system works fine.

I prefer Feirmont's version.
