But, I'm not exactly sure what was thought/intended with it, so I'm hesitant to add stuff until RP'ers share what they want. We discussed its possible future organisation a while ago, I think it boiled down to this: (03-03-2016, 10:12 PM)Kris Kringle Wrote: This is the thread. If this still has support we can try it out and "flesh out the rest as we move on" RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Kris Kringle - 12-07-2016 I've taken the liberty of implementing this. I tried to relocate as many threads as I could to their proper new subforums, but it's possible I may have missed some, so please do let me know if you catch any. :) RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Omega - 12-08-2016 Okay so I must continue to ask this: why does SPINN have its own subforum when it hasn't published anything in more year, but SPN does not receive a subform? RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Belschaft - 12-08-2016 Because SPINN is a decade old institution that dates back to practically the foundation of the region, and has been taken up by numerous TSPers over the years - it's possession of a subforum isn't relevant to the question of whether or not your newspaper should have one, as they're fundamentally different things. RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Zak6858 - 12-08-2016 Sometimes things have to change, if no one is going to take it up (and I don't see anyone doing it soon) it may be time to change RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Kris Kringle - 12-09-2016 (12-08-2016, 10:22 PM)Belschaft Wrote: Because SPINN is a decade old institution that dates back to practically the foundation of the region, and has been taken up by numerous TSPers over the years - it's possession of a subforum isn't relevant to the question of whether or not your newspaper should have one, as they're fundamentally different things. One could say even slightly before the foundation of the Coalition, if you consider SPIN to be the same newspaper as SPINN. Just out of curiosity, how long is it normally in-between people starting it and then abandoning it? RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Kris Kringle - 12-09-2016 I don't think there's a normal amount of time. Some keep it active for years, some for months, some for a couple of issues, some don't even finish with one issue. SPINN can be managed by literally anyone from the region, so it all depends on who claims it and how dedicated they are.
On a personal note, I enjoyed the SPINN versions of late 2012-early 2013 and late 2013-early 2014. Those two were generally active and published interesting pieces, plus they had an active and inclusive staff. But nothing will ever surpass the Southern Journal interviewing Max Barry. RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Omega - 12-09-2016 Okay so SPN has been continuously active for the past 7 months. So at what point can it receive the legitimacy of a subforum? RE: Reorganization Suggestions - Kris Kringle - 12-09-2016 Like Belschaft said, SPINN has a subforum because of its historical role in regional media. There's no magical number of months being active or articles being posted that suddenly get you a subforum. (Personally, I think the forum is already excessively divided with the latest reorganisation, so I'm not eager to create even more subforums.) |
