Activity requirements are passive. If you're actually active, you would never actually know about them. Forum activity requirements don't do anything other than require people actually use the forum, which is the only way to actually participate on the regional forum. Users are not required to go to certain pages or to fill out certain timesheets.

The only time a person is affected by an activity requirement is if they aren't active. We do not require a lot of our citizens. You have 30 days -- 720 hours -- to log on and post twice. An active participant will easily meet that requirement.

At the end of the day, this is a forum-based game. You have to actually use the forums to play it. If you don't have time to do that, then you don't have time for this game. It's as simple as that. This is not a real-life country, where everybody is entitled to citizenship and the vote. This is a game. It only works if people participate.

Let's not pretend that anything worked properly under Hile's forums. No offense to Hile, but people expected way too much of forum administrators which led to a ton of stress and hurt feelings.

Lets not pretend that nothin' worked properly either. Some stuff worked better, even if most stuff worked worse.

At some point, we all have to realize that you have to actually be online to play it.

Completely agree with this.

I find they can. You discourage people from doing something when you "expect it" of them.

I've noticed all of the places they have added activity requirements have spiraled into inactivity afterwards.

While, when TNP removed its activity requirements, TNP grew quite a bit.

I am not sure about TNP, but this approach is standard in many UCRs that I have been part of, and it is useful to keep citizenship rolls active and has had no impact on activity.

Ultimately, asking people to log in every so often to show interest is not an expectation of anything.

That would be like saying that asking citizens of the UK to live in the UK for 8 months of the year is an "expectation" of service. It isn't.

It is just a recognition of the basic level that you have to be on the forums a minimum amount to even be in a position to do anything. And if you aren't doing anything TSP, how can you be a citizen?

If your nation is founded in TSP, and ya don't have any other nations else, I don't see any reason ya should be able to retain citizenship in TSP.

Quote:1. Citizenship applications will be reviewed by the Vice Delegate.
2. Upon review the applicant may be either conditionally approved or denied by the Vice Delegate.
3. Upon the applicant being conditionally approved the forum administration staff will conduct a security check to ensure the applicant is not using a proxy, is not trying to avoid a forum ban, and is not a citizen using a different nation. In the event that an applicant is found to be using a proxy, attempting to avoid a forum ban, or applying for citizenship on multiple nations their application will be denied and not subject to appeal.
4. In the event that an applicant is denied the reason for denial must be disclosed by the Vice Delegate. The applicant may appeal their denial to the Assembly which may reverse the denial by a 75% majority vote in favor.
5. If a Citizen no longer has a resident nation their citizenship will be immediately removed by the Vice Delegate.
5. Citizenship may be removed by a majority vote of the Cabinet if a nation is found to be a security threat. Citizens removed for being a security threat may appeal to the Assembly which may reverse the removal by a 75% majority vote in favor.
6. Citizenship will be removed by the Vice Delegate if a Citizen no longer has a resident nation or has not logged into logged into the South Pacific forums for more than 90 days.
7. Citizens may request a leave of absence from the Vice Delegate.
8. If the Vice Delegate position is vacant, the Cabinet may designate a member to perform the above duties.

See above in blue. Making the requirement solely logging in an extending the period to 90 days is more than enough leeway.

Someone second this and I'll put it up for a vote.

What exactly is wrong with the 30 day threshold? What is wrong with the posting requirement? Why is it so wrong to expect people who want to be in TSP to actually participate in TSP? Citizenship is not a right that you get just for signing up. It's an active responsibility. It's a perk given to you for being active.

If you guys are going to make the limits meaningless, we might as well just get rid of all limits and hand out citizenship forever.

RE: Amendment to Citizenship Removals 1.2.7 of the Charter - Tsunamy - 06-10-2014

Because there are other ways to be active than these forums -- for example, the RMB.

This becomes a constant issue within NS. Where exactly is the community? Is it in the RMB? Or is it here? Or the NS board? Or all of the above?

I understand that we want people to be active, but using arbitrary posting requirements is, in fact, ridiculous. Someone can write two posts in the spam threads and that, ultimately, fulfills their requirement. Is that what you want?

That really doesn't help participation and rather just poses another obstacle we all have to abide by. I'd sooner use come up with activities to get people involved rather than forcing them to get involved.
