Bruuma boosts its honey industry

The Bruuman Ministry of Agricolture has launched a new plan to increase the production and export of local honey. A ban on most pesticides in the 90's has prevented the decline of local bee populations and Bruuman organic honey, while still a minor agricoltural product for the country, is much appreciated abroad and the demand is rapidly growing.

Puerto Pollo fix fares for most services

Puerto Pollo passed a bill aimed at regulating fares for many services, including transports. The country, officially socialist, still allows private enterprise in the form of "contractors", outsourcing some services to individuals or cooperatives. Rising and differing prices have caused widespread complaints, which the measure tries to address. It will be to see if it will cause a backlash in term of dynamism of the private entrepreneurs.

Kai Fa prepares to launch a new National Energy Plan

The Kai Fa Ministry of Energy has announced that it will unveil its new National Energy Plan at the next Kai Fa Business Forum.
The country has vast coal deposits, which hve been used to fuel the growth of its energy consumption along with two nuclear plants. Air pollution issues brought by the first  and fears about the aging of the latters have pressed the government to switch toward a more sustainable mix. It will be unlikely however that the new plan will rely heavily on clean sources, as the demand for energy keep growing fast. Bruuman-supplied GNL and local grown biomass will probably be the main focus instead.

The next revolution: Bruuma braces for epochal switch

The streets of Bayougrad are empty and silent once the sun set, save for uniformed personnel and construction workers. The country is preparing for the event that, in four days, will mark the most epochal moment in the contemporary history of the country.

Papa Unclepear, absolute ruler of Bruuma since 1956, will step down and hand over the reign to his young, mostly unknown successor, who goes by the name of Brother Unclepear.

The occasion will be one of the most important festivity of the regime, Revolution Day, which celebrates the start of the armed struggle of the Workers’ Mojo Party against colonial authorities in 1936.

The move, announced a few months ago, was long overdue: Papa Unclepear’s true age is estimated between 92 and 96 years old, and anointing its successor while still living was essential to prevent Bruuma from descending into chaos over a succession struggle.

It is yet to see if Brother Unclepear’s rise to power will be smooth. Official sources state that he has been an active member in incognito of the two most important power group of the country, the Army and the Party, and he has been subject since his unveiling to a massive propaganda campaign. But there are high raking figures who have been in top positions for decades, despite the regular purges, and who might be not so inclined to be ruled by a young man.

Time will tell: meanwhile, the ceremony being zealously prepared in the capital will be an event to rember by itself.

Revolution's Day: Brother Unclepear is the new leader of Bruuma

The day has come. In a pharaonic ceremony held today in Bayougrad, Papa Unclepear has passed the reins of power to his successor Brother Unclepear. The aging revolutionary, who for sixty-four years acted as the living god and absolute ruler of the Voodoo People's Republic of Bruuma, bid farewell to its people from a balcony facing the main square of the capital, packed with people from a crowd of a million streching all over the city.

The rare spectacle of a whole country standing still and silent was offered to the world during the long speech of the Eternal Leader. Papa Unclepear explained his retirement as "not the end, merely the beginning of the journey to a superior state of existence" where he "will take his place with the Masters and the Loas, living forever as the spirit of Bruuma itself and watching eternally on its people". He praised his successor, saying that "he is the next avatar of the idea of Bruuma, prepared for his role from his birth and at the same time his successor and reincarnation, to forward the revolution and the country into another century".

As many began to sob uncontrollably, Brother Unclepear took the microphone, beginning his first speech as the new Dear Leader of Bruuma by extensively lauding his predecessor, calling him, among other titles "the saviour of the nation", "the most perfect and pure revolutionary", "the apex of the history of mankind" and "a God, who will be our Eternal Leader forever". Brother Unclepear then procedeed to briefly confirm the country's current political stand, both internal and external, praising the role of both the Workers' Mojo Party and the Bruuman People's Defence Forces (some noticed, with the exact and same number of words each).

Papa Unclepear, who took the time to personally salute and praise the leaders of the alliend countries present there, Puerto Pollo and Kai Fa to begin with, then said goodbye to its country, its people and perhaps the rest of the world, with a single sentence, the motto which he imposed to a whole country: "Powers to the People".

The rest of the day, Revolution Day* festivity, followed with a pompous string of parades, ceremonies and other celebrations of the regime and the man that created it. As we write, celebrations have turned into a more festive mood as the time has come to be happy for the rise to power of Brother Unclepear.

Official sources states that Papa Unclepear will now retire to prepare himself for his "ascension" to the afterlife, but what this mean is unclear, other than he will disapper from public view. As maybe the last political vestige of the XX century comes to an end, the attention is focused on what will be written on the new chapter. For the moment, what is certain is that we are seeing history in the making.

*Revolution Day marks the day in which the Workers' Mojo Party declared the armed struggle against the colonial dominion on Bruuma in 1936. The founding day of the Party is unknown, being someday of 1931.

Papa Unclepear is dead. Probably.

Papa Unclepear in one of his last public apparition.

Papa Unclepear, the Eternal Leader of the Voodoo People's Republic of Bruuma, is dead. Probably.

Today, on the public holiday for his birthday*, his successor Brother Unclepear has announced that the man who led the country for more than half a century has "left his physical form to ascend among the Loas and the Masters" to "forever watch and guide Bruuma as the immortal spirit of the nation and the people".

Papa Unclepear, whose real age has been estimated between 92 and 96 years old, led the communist guerrilla during at least the final phase of the independence war, fought between 1942 and 1956, in which the country freed itself from its colonial masters. He then led his Workers' Mojo Party into the coup, during the very first day as a new country, in which they established a communist-voodoo regime who last today. For 64 years he ruled the island as absolute dictator and living God, until he retired a few months ago after passing the reins to his mysterious successor, Brother Unclepear.

A solemn period of mourning and celebration has been announced to honour the definitive transformation of Papa Unlepear into the God of his people, which will begin with the unveiling of the mausoleum where his mortal remains will be put in display once embalmed.

*It is believed that the date is fictional. Birth date and name are unknown; a popular theory among scholars identify Papa Unclepear with a certain Robert Knight, born on March 6th 1926 in Port Bayou (today Bayougrad).

Puerto Pollo bets on coral nurseries

[Image: d4a392fbc2d740a09bbaa24ba33d3756_18.jpg]

Puerto Pollo has launched its first coral nursery, designed to help the country repopulate its reefs, some of the most pristine in the region, and make them more resilient in the face of global threats like warming waters, overfishing and coral diseases.

Puerto Pollo's corals have been somewhat shielded by the relative underdevelopment of its coastline, lower use of fertilizer and establishment of protected areas covering a quarter of all insular waters.

But that does not protect them from one of the top threats to coral: bleaching, which occurs when the water is too warm, forcing coral to expel living algae and causing it to calcify and turn white.

Mildly bleached coral can recover if the temperature drops, otherwise it may die. Scientists believe climate change is the underlying cause.

Kai Fa enterprises seek to export consumer goods

Kai Fa enterprises are seeking cooperation opportunities with their peers abroad to export consumer goods.  Speaking at an online conference on July 9, the director of the Trade Promotion Department said the country will implement many measures to maintain trade as well as implemented initiatives to promote business exchanges via online platforms.
