Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 02-27-2015 Based on sources (1) (2) (3) I am now confident enough to say that the South Pacific was not created in April 2003, as we previously thought. The NationStates ChangeLog mentions the creation of additional feeders on 29 April 2003, but also says that those changes were in previous months. The last entry before that was on 10 December 2002. Based on that date, and the earliest source that mentions the South Pacific, I would say that our region was created at some point between 10 December 2002 and 16 January 2003.
Though sources are probably scarce at this point, it really would help if we could all do some research on the creation and origins of the region, to know when is the first mention of its existence, and maybe what happened during those first months. Two things we already know from that pre-KM time:
Thanks to TAC for giving me the original source about these two previously unknown Delegates. RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Ryccia - 02-27-2015 So, do we have to change the holiday now? RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - TAC Saxton - 02-27-2015 I recall seeing a post on the first zetaboards forum that states TSP was originally created August 29, 2002. I'll have t find it again though. RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 02-27-2015 I find that extremely difficult to believe. NationStates was created in 7 August 2002, and only went live in 13 November 2002. Still, that would be an interesting source to see. RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - TAC Saxton - 02-27-2015 Haven't found the aforementioned post yet, but I've found a post from Michu hearing of NS as far back as February 2002. source RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 02-27-2015 That's impossible. Michu made a mistake, and probably meant January 2003. I can come up with some, but figured you guys might have some ideas of your own as well. RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - TAC Saxton - 04-03-2015 Do you have any recollection of Katland as Delegate after you? Can you recall any Delegates before you? Were their any events of significance during your Delegacy? I'll think of more later on (if I can.) EDIT: Part 2 To the best of your knowledge, how long were you Delegate? Do you know if The South Pacific was in-fact created in April 2003? Being as accurate as possible, when was your nation founded? Can't think of anymore at the moment. Might update again at a later time. RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - Kris Kringle - 04-06-2015 We had already established that the South Pacific was not created in April 2003. I said as much in the OP to this thread, when I included a close range of possible dates. In fact, that ranger has been shortened to between 10 December 2002 and 06 January 2003. RE: Creation and Origins of the South Pacific - TAC Saxton - 04-06-2015 I don't see how December 2002 has any relevance to the creation of the region. |
