Prohibited Group Discussion: The Empire - southern bellz - 04-13-2015

Should The Empire be considered a prohibited group?  We have already denied citizenship to multiple members on the grounds of their involvement in multiple GCR coups.

What would define involvement with The Empire?  There are people, such as Wolf, who have been involved with The Empire, but are not members of the inner circle of coupers.  In this example, he was involved before they were known to be chronic coupers.

A prohibited group only applies to current members. Current known members include Dali, Neenee, NK, and Biyah. Wolf isn't a current member according to him.

Additionally, Dali and Neenee have no reservations about couping any region, as they think it's "good" and that they're basically doing a service to NationStates by doing it. You can listen to their thoughts on this here: http://mixlr.com/ebc-radio/showreel/couploops-with-the-fruitloops/

I've spoken to people in Osiris who had experience with The Empire. Their thoughts are that TSP is facing the same thing that Osiris was before their coup.

As much as I believe The Empire are classic examples of security threats, I'm not sure Article 7 would allow the Assembly to do this though. The Empire are threats because of what they've done in other GCRs and what they may do here. But Article 7 requires that a prohibited group have already done something damaging to us. In other words, it's reactive and not proactive. We'd have to amend Article 7, or ask that the Cabinet use its Article 1.2.7 authority.

*feels famous*

I prefer to take these things on a case-by-case basis.

Glen-Rhodes: The Empire was an involved party with the Sedgistan Coup. That could make this reactive. If it's deemed a hostile act by the cabinet or the CSS.

I think going off of what happened in 2011 is a little bit of a stretch here. Especially considering several members of the Empire aided us during Milo's coup.

Yeah — I'm not a huge fan of declaring The Empire a prohibited organization.

Any reasons in particular, tsu?

Well, it's not a clearly defined group. So there's essentially to way to tell who is still part of the group.

Moreover, is it even active at the present? How would we tell?

Neenee, Dali, Neo Kervoskia, and Biyah are who most consider to be "The Empire." The only player who's *not* active right now, afaik, is Biyah.

Neenee and Dali are *here*. Both working very hard to make people on IRC like them, so that you will think twice before kicking them to the curb. Ask anyone who has dealt with them and they'll tell you that's their exact MO.

NK is wrapped up in Lazarus. Currently calls themselves the Empire's "propagandist."
