The Economic Calculation Department of the Ministry of the Federal Treasury has reported an outstanding economic growth of 18.2% in 2016. The majority of this growth, however, is attributed to the re-establishment of economic normality in Ryccia not seen since early 2015, not a sign of an ecomomic miracle, as the economy was in shambles in 2015-2016. This is, however, a sign of a much-needed economic recovery. More will be mentioned in the Ryccian Bulletin.

Just as the JKOM 2017 exercises are about to start, the Region of Charon has begun filing legal papers to regain territories ceded to Theron during The Scourge Wars(1198-1205, 1210-1219), which includes Barden and much of the surrounding areas. "You can't just deny our ethnic claim to the territory", stated Charon Attorney General Benas Karosas when questioned about the announcement, "With these wars long passed us, it's time that we had lands that are rightfully ours returned." The Governor of Theron has not yet responded to requests to comment. The Royal Military has insisted that the territorial dispute will have little to no effect on the military exercises.

In light of the recent events in Resentine, a cargo plane with additional equipment to both the MASH unit and for KTM Sveinung is dispatched, bound for Resentine. "Just a precauting in case of an eventual escalation" Press officer Per Honnigsvaag said when questioned about it.

In response to the precautionary measures taken by Troenian forces participating in JKOM 2017, Press Secretary Colonel Mikal Andreas simply stated that "If there were an escalation to worry about, it would be most interesting to watch considering Regions are not legally allowed by Federation law to have Armed Forces."
