Kurdish independence - Jay Coop - 05-30-2015

I thought that we should talk about something that intrigues me deeply. Now I'm not Kurdish, but I believe that they deserve a nation that they can call home.

Really all of Iraq should be split into different nations. The kurds and all the different tribes of Iraq are different from each other to the point that they will never consider themselves part of the same country.

The Peshmerga is fighting ISIS, and they don't give up, unlike the Iraqi Army. So I think its fair that Iraq gives Iraqi Kurdistan independence after the conflict. So should Turkey give independence to their part of Kurdistan.

In my opinion, Syria and Iran should give up some of their territory as well.

Yup. Syria has some Kurdish land as well.

Unless the United States and other Western nations put enough pressure on the two countries to do it.

There is no amount of pressure that any country can put on another to make them give up part of their country. Never going to happen.

Considering just how much pressure has been needed to get Iran to agree to some semblance of a nuclear agreement, I find it hard to even entertain the notion that it could be forced to give up territory. Same with Turkey, they would never give up their Kurdish lands, especially considering their past history with Kurdistan.
