Mapping hurricanes - Jay Coop - 07-10-2015

As part of my recent roleplaying idea, I was wondering if someone would like to map out the paths of each storm because I do not have the technology to do this myself.

I could try. We'd need to determine on the "trade winds" because hurricanes travel on the trade winds.

RE: Mapping hurricanes - Jay Coop - 07-10-2015

In the real-life South Pacific, they are southeasterly.

Pretend I'm someone who doesn't know anything about weather, will you?

Mapping hurricanes - Resentine - 07-10-2015

Sure. What do you want to know?Also, JC, just remember, we aren't the Real South Pacific, our weather patterns are bound to be different, especially because we have 4 continents and not a collection of sparse islands.

Well, Here's my ver. 1. Hereby awaiting Judgement.
Blue=Westerlies
Brown=Trade Winds(Southeasterly)
Yellow=Trade WInds(Northeasterly)

RE: Mapping hurricanes - rhinotaz - 07-11-2015

Uhm. What are the NE trade winds doing south of the equator? And why is one of the westerlies so close to the equator?

RE: Mapping hurricanes - Resentine - 07-11-2015

The Current base of this is the actual world Wind patterns. Didn't really have much else to go by.

RE: Mapping hurricanes - rhinotaz - 07-11-2015

I know, and it's actually a pretty good adaptation.
The problem here is that you seem to have mistaken the equator's position. You centered the winds around 20°S - 30°S (Tropic of Capricorn), when you should have centered it around 0° (Equator). Other than that, this is incredibly accurate. I was actually afraid you would not account for mountain ranges, but you apparently did so.

Alright. I'll pump out Ver 2. Tomorrow. We want to Drop the Northeasterly winds and make those all southeasterly, and maybe make those top Westerlies the northeasterlies?
