Expanding Representation - Tsunamy - 03-16-2016

I've been on this for a while now, but I still think we need to come up with a way to better include the RMB-active nations into the region. They are key to holding "power" and the delegate's seat, so we need to do more to make them feel included in the processes and heard.

I'd just like to say that I agree with this 100%; we need to do more to reach out to the in-game region, not just tell them that there is nothing stopping them from getting involved here.

One possible way to do this which pops-up often enough is to give them a way to directly participate in decisions through polls; most especially, open polls without requiring the people to be in the WA. That this is being shot down ever so often as it does appear, because of so-called 'security issues' is at best ridiculous. For things like voting ppl into 'senate' this might be true (to some extend) but for anything else there shouldnt be much of a Problem; more so when those votes shall just serve as a way to 'monitor' the opinion of the residents in TSP.

WA Membership is the only way to guarantee one player, one vote; as such it's necessary for any substantive polls.

What about this: let everyone vote on a poll, but only count votes from WA-nations for considering things. That´s how it´s been done in Balder when I had my WA-Nation there between late 2014 and summer 2015.

Then people will complain if the two results are different.

What is "representation?" Having a say in issues that affect the game side? Or providing the vote on every issue that comes before the Assembly?

What I would have in mind is having a vote on select, major issues - say, Charter amendments and treaties - and in Delegate elections, whilst day to day governance/legislation is handled off-site.

RE: Expanding Representation - W. Charlesfort - 03-16-2016

Back to the issue of WA-force: how do You (Bel) plan to interest more ppl for getting involved, when they are virtually being forced to join the World Assembly for something as simple and unimportant as a poll?

Expanding Representation - sandaoguo - 03-16-2016

I think perhaps one major issue that is always ignored when discussing this is that it's likely the vast majority of people just dgaf. The goal shouldn't be to get as many voters as possible, but to increase accessibility to the relatively few who actually care. Lots of people will vote without actually giving a shit about what they're voting on.
