Bruuman soldier in Sereva Island, December 2017 Stockholm (KTN) — In a breakdown of diplomatic relations, Bruuma invaded the Erinoran territory of Sereva Island on Saturday to aid local communist rebels. The Erinoran government declared a "state of war", which GI-Land also did shortly after. Ryccia has also promised to invade Sereva Island to counter Bruuma. Sedunn condemned the invasion but also criticized Erinor, saying that Erinoran "inaction" led to a "successful and unhindered Bruuman landing". The Bruuman invasion has also led to an unprecedented joint statement between the leaders of Erinor and Sereva Island, issuing a condemnation of the invasion. Multiple Valkyrian officials working in Executive Valkyria tell KTN that Chancellor Margaret Harrison was "woken up" by Michael Mendez, her chief of staff, to notify her about the invasion.
Harrison convened an emergency meeting of the Valkyrian Defense Council to discuss their course of action, which is reported by Valkyrian officials to have lasted for nearly two hours. In the Ambrose Hall of Executive Valkyria, Harrison gave a televised speech in which she announced that the Valkyrian government would step up its support for the Erinoran government by offering 150 billion Pacific dollars worth of arms to them. Harrison also stated that she was going to send a thousand ground troops and the VNS Walter Mason to "advise and assist" the Erinoran military, pending approval from the Erinoran government. Closing her speech, Harrison said that, should "all other options be exhausted", a Valkyrian invasion would be possible and was "not off the table", but will seek the constitutionally-mandated parliamentary approval needed to do so.
