The Tular Republic has once again initiated a crackdown on genetic research, arresting almost 300 non-government scientists in the last week. Private science institutes, such as the esteemed Alisk'Halaskt-Nekt Institute are calling the crackdowns 'immoral and illegal' while the government insists it's only acting for the public good. Many researchers are believed to be preparing to flee the Republic in the following weeks.

The Ryccian armed forces has begun a military campaign against the growing pirate factions in The Imperial Rim, the most far-flung region of the Empire. The government has granted a 30-day period of grace, under which all pirates willing to give themselves in shall have their sentences halved, and they can be further cut if they provide intel.

CEO Marcus Varrakis has denied any allegations of wrongdoing, but has agreed to comply with law enforcement until the investigation is concluded.

Four of the companies that make the Empire's TIE line of starfighters, Constantinople General Engineering, Kristimas Tailon Spacecraft Company, Andor Raylight Systems, and Nontorra Light Craft Limited have created a new design for the TIE series, rumoured to be so powerful, it can challenge the best of what the Imperial Navy can provide and be a tough challenge. This is a dramatic shift from the stereotypical view of TIE starfighters, which are seen as cheap and the common starfighter in the Navy. This new TIE will be tested by fighting piracy in the current campaign in The Imperial Rim region.
