Day 8 - Favourite Holiday Movies

What would the festive season be without a film or two to watch with those you love, snuggled up on the sofa, stuffing your face with sweets, chocolates, leftover turkey, or whatever?

Hollow and empty, that's what!

So why don't we share a few of our particular favourite films to watch at this time of year? They don't have to be festive in content, just films you love to love during the holiday season.

To get us started, here are a few of my faves:

The Nightmare Before Christmas.

This is my all-time favourite Christmas movie. If we aren't watching it at Christmas, then we're singing along to the soundtrack.

What's not to love?

The Complete Extended Edition Middle Earth Films.

Watching our way through these every Christmas had been a longstanding tradition for my wife and I, pretty much from the moment we met (which was not long before going to see Return of the King in the cinema.

These days, it can take us months to get through them, but starting during the holiday season is a must. It's just not quite Christmas without them.

He's a scene, which I think, resonates wonderfully through all six films (and is a fine example of how, whatever you think of the Hobbit films, they make the original trilogy even better!)

So, now it's over to you!

I don't actually believe this, but it's good rhetoric for this post.

Home Alone
I believe it needs no explanation. The best of the best. All of its sequels, however, are absolute rubbish. Yes, including Lost in New York - it's a clone!

LOTR is an amazing movie franchise I especially love the soundtracks.  My favourite holiday movie of all time, however, would be Charlie brown christmas as it is a tradition to watch for me and my family as well as Rudolph the red nose reindeer

Call me Mrs Miracle
Annie Claus is Coming to Town
Christmas Do-Over
Die Hard
The Mistletoe Inn

(Yes I'm a sucker for hallmark christmas movies)

Honestly, my favorite is that old one, "It's a Good Life." I watch it every year with my father.

I feel like this list is strangely missing Elf.
Actually my family has watched Elf every single Christmas since seven years ago, I honestly have no memory of a Christmas where we haven't watched Elf.
We're so used to it we even quote 20% of the lines as the characters say them :p
(this season we even had a competition of who could quote the most lines word for word as they were said, I lost to my sister by 10 points but still got second place ^-^)
