The Imperial Guard is to take over Presidential security from the Izaakston Special Policing Division. The Imperial Guard are famous for their strict entrance requirements including but not limited to 10 years of active special forces training including at-least one confirmed kill. They are also famous for their traditionally styled armour, which has been updated and modified to modern armour standards but retains many features from traditional ancient Montacian styling with peonic influences.

Parliament Revokes Article 5, Paragraph V of the constitution by a two thirds majority. Revoking this paragraph which outlines that a two thirds majority is required to change the consitution effectively reduces the constitution to ordinary legislation, as shown by the fact the constitution will now be referred to as the Bill of Rights and Responsibilities. President Blanc is understood to have had a change of heart, now believing that a fully codified constitution is an unreasonable restraint on governance.

Izaakian Airforce Research Centre in conjunction with Aeronaughtica cancels research into battery powered aircraft citing unsurmountable technological obstacles. The research budget will now be reassigned to the much more promising hydrogen fuel combustion project ahead of test flights in the final quarter of the year.

President Elliott was overheard saying he is a martial artist. When questioned, he confirmed this is true.

Prime Minister Barrett has stated that she was very, very tempted not to call a snap General Election but that she felt it was the right thing to do and that it's time for a change in the leadership of the Government. Vice-Prime Minister Chandler made a surprise appearance today at the Qaz Children's Adventure Farm in Ferndochty where he is a patron. Critics of the Lower Chamber Speaker say his time in the Chair only proves the new Speaker needs to be a woman. Dr. Speaker Wallace called this rubbish and said, 'Whoever gets elected, gets elected.' Former Speaker Quincy Silva has apologised for recently obstructing investigations into former Vice-Prime Minister Stewart Gill. He said he forgot that Gill didn't hold Office under his Speakership.

Defence Minster Godrick Kim is understood to have questioned the viability of an invasion of N&GB without support from Techganet and the ability to launch from northern Techganet in cabinet today. The President is believed to be fuming in private, but putting forward a diplomatic front in public this afternoon.

Campaigning for the second Deputy Speaker election has ended and MPs are casting their votes all day today. Results will be counted tomorrow and Sunday with the result being announced on Sunday evening by Dr. Speaker Wallace at a special sitting of Parliament.
