Being in the Cabinet for a third (technically fourth), yet only been active on the forums for a little over a year: would I be considered as such? Would a player such as Imkitopia, who hasn't been on the forums nearly as long but holds the Vice-Delegacy be considered new?

I'm not debunking your argument(s), just looking for the solid definition of 'Senior Player'.

[...]

However since we currently do not have any sort of governmental office that I am aware of that is solely dedicated to promoting new member inclusion in executive forum activities in a reasonable and rewarding way to both TSP and the individual player,

The department you're looking for is Integration in the Ministry of Regional Affairs. There is currently the Fellowship Program as well; albeit it needs to be tweaked a bit.
(01-07-2016, 12:55 AM)The Serres Republic Wrote: I would say that a Senior player is anyone that holds either a high place of power in parliament or the Military (IE: Hileville, or Siberian) or a high morale authority over his/her fellow players. What this second statement means is: anyone who's opinion is considered extremely relevant and above that of other players either because of that individuals past record of solid decision making skills or ability to convince people that their argument is the correct one.

I am basically talking about the role models of our Region. The names on our front page on NS, the people that actively contribute to political debates and have been doing so for an incredibly long time, or people that are thought of fondly by the rest of the community.
Fair enough. With that in mind I'll present my case and thoughts on your previous post:

Quote:The real reason that any new player would feel unheard, or unable to make a difference in any kind of game would have to have something to do with those in power themselves. I honestly believe that if those in power changed their mindset and simply listened to citizens when making decisions, or went even further and actively involved them, we would see a huge increase in citizen morale. Which, as far as I can tell, is the issue you are highlighting. Citizens do not want to participate because they feel locked in a system they have no say in. Is this correct?

Since this is a break down of your entire post I will not wait for a response and simply assume I am right, as The Future Greatest General of The South Pacific ought to do.

It is, at the end of the day, up to the higher ups to give those disgruntled citizens say. Mind you, not everyone can be pleased, but a happy medium can be met. For example when I posted my original reply to this thread WITHIN FIVE MINUTES another member pm'd me with the following message

"I legit had a massive face palm after your first paragraph in that topic. But it was a good post. Just don't expect them to listen to you much. Someone might reply a bit. But You're a citizen, which in some people's minds here is that you don't count.

The sad reality of the players here "

The fact that a member even thinks this, whether it is true or not, is appalling. This is an issue that must be addressed and based on what I have seen, it is an issue with THE SENIOR PLAYERS. (Damn This must have been how Lenin Felt... O.o The fear is real)

I will not name the player that sent this pm, that would be a complete betrayal of the privacy of our conversation. Also, nameless player who shall remain anonymous I apologies if I crossed a line mentioning this, I felt it necessary to mention.

So, perhaps instead of Rethinking OUR SYSTEM we should be re thinking how our senior players view the new citizens of TSP. In a Democracy EVERY OPINION MATTERS. Even the opinions that belong to the newest member listed on the bottom of our Forum page, BTW WELCOME TO THE SOUTH PACIFIC The Kingdom of Brythonis  SHOUT OUT!!!!

NOW! IF Senior members prove unwilling to adopt a proactive mindset regarding this suggestion I would further suggest adopting a new government policy that limits the amount of terms a nation can hold a Senior Parliament position for. This limit would only be needed for very high ranking officials and the amount of times one could hold a position would be directly correlated to the height of said position (Higher = Less times)

First, I want to point out the hasty generalization with "it is an issue with THE SENIOR PLAYERS" when the wording of the PM was "in some people's minds". Phrased like so, I read 'ALL THE SENIOR PLAYERS'. Lumping as many people in a group to facilitate an argument is potentially hurtful to those 'senior players' that have indeed been working hard in this region. Also, use of the following: "So, perhaps instead of Rethinking OUR SYSTEM we should be re thinking how our senior players view the new citizens of TSP." and other phrases such like this as an argument is arguably powerful, but also another generalization. I am not entirely sure if you were going for the 'shock and awe' method.

Next, I do not think simply pointing the finger so to speak at the senior players is the right way to go about it; especially if your definition of a senior player "is anyone that holds either a high place of power in parliament or the Military (IE: Hileville, or Siberian) or a high morale authority over his/her fellow players". Your argument is at its core now against all the individual Cabinet members. Some of those members have only been in office for a month, and (I assume) are trying to get their feet on the ground, or trying to balance RL and NS, or even just coming off a holiday vacation (myself included).

That said, I believe I understand and fundamentally agree with the nitty gritty core of your point. I can only speak for myself, however, as I can not speak for anyone else:
I have planned a way to make the Foreign Affairs more open with the Foreign Affairs Academy. It was in my platform during the elections and I am happy to see it finally start. In a department that requires a touch of discretion and experience, this was one of the best ways I thought of to include newer members that want to join.
My door is always open, and I sincerely hope that there is no citizen of TSP that thinks they cannot come to me for help, advice, criticisms, or just to chat.
