Building a Diverse and Democratic TSP | Belschaft for Delegate

I view this as two separate issues really, and will address them as such.

Firstly, the issue of my "Livia" persona. There's a bunch of ways I could address this, and a lot of them which I could use to try and dodge the question. But the simple reality is that after I was exiled from the region in 2015 I was angry and bitter - I didn't like the fact that a bunch of people were saying that I wasn't a citizen of TSP, the region I consider my home, especially as with the exception of yourself the people involved had been in TSP for a lot less time than myself. I felt insulted, thought I deserved better treatment due to my service to the region over the years, and viewed the entire thing as political; in all honestly, I still think that to a certain degree it was political for some of the people involved. I was acting like an arsehole at the time, and I certainly needed a break from TSP for my own good, but the way things went down just made everything worse.

I created the Livia persona because I took pleasure from being smarter than the people who decided I wasn't a citizen anymore, showing them up and talking to them without them knowing it. It was petty and dickish of me, but as I said - I was bitter and angry. That doesn't excuse me doing it, and I obviously shouldn't have, but we all fuck up. We all make mistakes, do things we regret. All we can do is recognise that, apologise and try to make up for what we've done.

As for the second issue, the fact that I ran for Chair of the Assembly whilst intending to remain a Local Councillor; I continue to view the LC as a political and representative role, rather than a governmental one. My job is to promote the interests of the majority of TSPers who don't directly participate in our government, and that shouldn't be viewed in the same way as administering a part of the government. I think that Local Councillors should be allowed to seek government office, precisely because I don't think the Local Council is a form of government office. Obviously this isn't something that the majority of the Assembly agrees with me on, but it's my opinion on the subject.

I try to judge people by their actions, not their words. I've been Delegate of TSP three times - two elected terms in 2011 and 2013, and a "interim" Delegacy in 2016 when I took control of Hile's nation; if I wanted to coup TSP for the sake of couping a GCR I would have done so previously. I obviously think the way TSP is governed needs to change, but I've spent the last year attempting to do so via the proper legal methods; the Assembly, seeking election, sometimes the Court. I intend to keep doing so.

To be honest, if I wanted to "do a Milo" I wouldn't be running on the platform I am; I don't expect to get a huge amount of support from assembly legislators, which means I'm not very likely to make it to the in-game stage of the election. If my plan was to be elected Delegate, and then abandon the laws of TSP and coup then I'd probably want to run on a platform that has a better chance to get me elected. Let's be honest here; I'm not going to be TSP's next Delegate. What I want to do, and what I'm trying to do, is shape the debate. I mean, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind being Delegate - I enjoy the job and think that me being elected would force the Assembly to address the issues I campaign for - but I don't expect to be.

I make no apologies for not couching my words in political-nonsense to make them more appealing, or for aggressively campaigning for democratic reform. It's what I said I would do when I asked people to elect me as a Local Councillor, and it's exactly what I have done. I'm sure I've annoyed plenty of people by relentlessly hammering on about political reform and voting rights for the last six months, but that's too bad for them - I have every intention of keeping at it. I think TSP has a serious democratic deficit right now, I think we need to improve voting rights, and I'm going to keep on doing everything in my legal power to address these issues.

My objective here isn't to avoid offending people, or to tell them what they want to hear. It would be the easiest thing in the world to craft a safe, inoffensive political platform, one that appeals to lots of people and could get me elected to a cabinet office, and then work up from there. I don't fell like engaging in that kind of nonsense though; I'm going to say what I think, not what it's politic for me to think. If people don't like that, they don't have to vote for me.
