PARLIAMENT BRAWLS OVER EDUCATION BUDGET INCREASE
[Image: n64CiO2.jpg]
MPs physically attacks each other during a parliamentary debate on October 25th

MPs physically attack each other after a debate regarding education budget increase yesterday morning turns chaotic. The chaos began with a claim made by the Opposition leader Hon. Jeanne Borquette of the government's intention on using the budget increase as a means to increase taxes on poorer citizens. Her argument was met with personal attacks from government MPs, particularly about Mrs. Borquette's pending divorce trial, which enraged the opposition side. A fight ensues forcing the Collegial Speaker to halt the debate. As the condition in the chamber became untenable, Sergeant-at-Arms evacuate the Speaker and PM Alston. Parliamentary security officers and Livonian police officers managed to disperse the MPs by afternoon.

President Trenton condemned the atrocities in the Parliament as uncivilized in a statement last night. He encourages an inquiry to be made on MPs in Parliament to prevent physical atrocities to happen again. Across the opposition, members of the Labour Coalition demand an apology from the Freedom Faction regarding their statements on Mrs. Borquette. Syndicalist Party Chairman, Hon. Rubicon Azeri made a statement this morning, regarding the barbarian tactics that the Freedom Faction utilize to safeguard their Opposition, and calls for the Worker and Labour Party to unite their commitment to the Coalition.

ATTACK WITH POLITICAL INTENTIONS IN CANNA
A teacher from Canna 2nd Highschool was attacked yesterday by a vigilante who claimed himself a member of the Syndicalist Party. The teacher was assaulted with a kitchen knife and a baseball bat, resulting in some bruises and a cut through the teacher's hand. The teacher was rescued by a nearby bystander and brought to the hospital. Canna City Police requested the teacher's testimony yesterday and was quick to identify and capture the assailant. 19 years old J.L. was arrested yesterday evening in a local pub. He claimed his attack was a result of the teacher's rightist tendency on her teaching, and that his attack was a defense against propaganda. He is still under police custody and is waiting for his first hearing on October 28th.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: WE TRUST THE MILITARY
A poll was made by a group of students from the State University of Livonia, regarding people's trust toward government establishments in Livana. The result was quite extraordinary, stated Professor Henry Calvin, Professor of Political Science and the student group's supervisor. He claimed that through the poll, it is apparent that the people place more trust in the military than the civilian government. The poll, which is part of research toward ordinary Livanan's perception of politics, engaged with 2,000 participants from throughout the country. It resulted in 61% of participants trusting Livana's armed forces as a guarantee for peace and stability in the country. Further questionnaire reveals the distrust people have towards the civilian government mainly attributed to transparency problems and disunities caused by political motives. The military, on the other hand, is seen as a neutral and apolitical body that can make quick decisions in order to ensure peace and stability.

However, it is worth mentioning that people still overwhelmingly prefer civilian administration to military one. Professor Calvin stated that the people almost universally believe in Livana's democracy. Their only concern is that the political elites of Livana are seemingly too distant from their everyday life, making most electorates feel neglected. Open government, said the professor, has never made it to any party's political manifesto since the 80s, which indicates that political parties have something to hide from the public; creating distrust and uneasiness among the populace. Professor Calvin argues strongly for further transparency on the administration. More transparency would equal more accountability, which means the people will have more control over their representatives and leader, both at the state level and at the federal level.
