Haze in Indonesia and Outcry from Singapore |
Here's the wiki article about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Southeast_Asian_haze
El nino and some arsonists made wildfire, and the entire nation is enveloped in haze. It's spreading to indonesian neighbours, and Singapore has been vocal about it. Java has yet to be affected, but the other islands are. Palembang is my hometown, and for the entire day, everyday of the month, the city has been enveloped in white smoke. Like a blanket on a turkey, you can't go out without smelling a cigarette-like smoke, and you can no longer see the stars at night. The moon glows orange, perhaps that'll give a clue on the haze's composition? Two things I'd like to point out 1. Singapore has been very vocal about it, and is planning to prosecute the Indonesian government concerning the matter. Malaysia, Brunei and Thailand are also following the act. 2. The Indonesian population is ignorant to the fact, they thought it's a harmless fog, and therefore does not use the necessary equipments to repel the smog. Despite government cries and warnings, most of the population does not want to wear a mask.
