Michael Mendez, chief of staff: "Madam Chancellor, we need to schedule a meeting with alliance partners. If these polling numbers are any indication, we're gonna need the support of the CDP to remain in government. If the Conservatives become the largest opposition party, they will not hesitate to support Kaufman's bid to become chancellor."

Margaret Harrison, Chancellor of the Valkyrian Republic: "Yeah, do that please. I also need to speak to Victor Cutter. He may not be the parliamentary leader of the CDP anymore, but he holds the most influence in the party."

With her advisers on their way out of the room, Harrison pulled out a prescription bottle of oxycodone to manage the pain she feels after the November assassination attempt. She believes that she is doing this unbeknownst to her closest advisers, but Mendez knows.
