Valkyrian politics | Parliament passes Government Restructuring Act 2019 By Allie Vega, KTN News Friday, 12 April 2019 Stockholm (KTN) — The Valkyrian Parliament moved on Friday to reduce the number of executive departments from 18 to 12. After passing the Government Restructuring Act 2019, the Departments of Immigration, Intelligence, and Justice merged to form the Department of Home Affairs, representing the most powerful consolidation within the government apparatus. However, the restructuring of the Valkyrian government will not take effect until after the next government is formed later this year after the conclusion of the 7 July general election. GRA 2019 was passed with almost unanimous support from all parties in Parliament with Chancellor Margaret Harrison calling the bill a "simplification" of the government.
In-house polling on the general election suggests that there may be no clear winner after the election. The most recent KTN poll finds that Harrison, Opposition Leader Nicole Chancellor, and Conservative leader Stella Kaufman all have an equal chance to become the next Chancellor of the Valkyrian Republic.
