The November 2021 Local Council Election

By Apatosaurus

In the 5th of November, CRS Member, Chief Justice and Election Commissioner Kringalia announced the start of a new regular Local Council election after the incumbent term came to a close. The various persons running for the position included The eternal swedish empire, an RMB regular, Somurias, an active RMB'er, Murelia, an incumbent Local Councilor, Apatosaurus, a legislator and RMB regular, Drew Durrnil, a legislator and active RMB'er, Evinea, a newcomer but active RMB'er, Canadian Dominion, an RMB regular, and Drystar, a former Local Councillor.
Six days later, in the 11th of November, the initial elimination round poll opened. This resulted in a clear lead by Evinea, followed by DrystarApatosaurus and a tie between Drystar and Nation States Cayo. However, Evinea later withdrew from the election.
The second elimination poll had a clear lead by The eternal swedish empire, followed by Somurias and Saint Cinder . However, as United Federation of Prouthe and Logomalondo were tied, a runoff elimination poll was held, resulting in United Federation of Prouthe being eliminated.
The first election poll was quickly won by Drystar, who nearly got 50 votes, followed by Apatosaurus at 12 votes, and a tie between Somurias and Drew Durrnil at 11 votes. This resulted in Drystar easily receiving the first seat on the Local Council.
The second election poll was much more contested, but Canadian Dominion clinched the second seat with only 3 votes more than Apatosaurus, who got the third seat. Saint Cinder also recieved 15 votes, and then Murelia and Drew Durrnil tied at 8.

This election was completely chaotic and exhausting. I hope to see serious Local Council Election reform sooner rather than later, since the problems with these elections will only get worse and worse as time goes on.
